Actual complaining: nixspam
John accused me of complaining about systemd... this here's *real*
complaining.
Several times every month, my email starts getting bounced by freakin'
nixspam, because my giant hosting provider, that hosts millions of
domains. Akemi has argued that nixspam works just fine (if so, then why
did we get that spam a few weeks ago?).
I've politely requested being put on a whitelist, and been politely
ignored. I'd also be very surprised if that was not...

Admin business
Karanbir,
PLEASE!
You've never responded to my question about whitelisting. That asinine
nixspam did it to me again, and this time... seriously, I urge you,
personally, to go there and try to remove a site. They've "enhanced
their security", that is, mangling the capchas, to the point that it
took me about five minutes or more, and about a dozen or 15 challenges,
before I got one...

I thought I had (unless it bounced, thanks to nixspam, and I never
reposted). It's a JetStor 712s. It *should* appear as a single huge drive.

Having looked at the headers, I see that this is the new thing onlist -
we're being spammed from gmail. Does this mean nixspam will be blocking
gmail anytime soon?

Hi, Les,
Could you forward this to the CentOS list? That damn nixspam is
blocking my hosting provider's mailhost *again*; it was on and off
yesterday, and today it won't even let me remove it, and that was after

...cause we were getting a lot of emails from elsewhere, subscribing to one
or more of our lists... and having the target be one of three gmail
accounts - a DDoS against them (and we assume that they're doing it to a
lot of other places).
Anyway, given the number of times I've been blocked by nixspam (which I
found is run by IX, a German IT mag, and that they don't answer emails to
*them*, either), I've been trying to think of a *reasonable* way to block
that doesn't do collective punishment to the many domains of a huge
hosting provider, and that's my best thought so far....

install woes
I'm really at a loss.
I had 5.11 running on this machine, from this physical boot disk, until I
stepped on /bin the other day.
I've tried installing Centos 5.10 and 5.11 to this Seagate 1TB drive. Both
installs run perfectly, but when I try to reboot, grub says
Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0xee
googling this indicates that the disk has a GUID partition table. This must have

As it's only a 1TB drive, what does fdisk say? Or parted? You *could* try
rewriting the partition table and see if that helps.

Thanks.

Anyone got any thoughts on the matter?

ADMIN issue - manitu
I've been blocked twice this morning, and removed myself once - the first
time, by the time I got to work and looked at the list, it was already
gone. My hosting provider works with those jerks at manitu. I've ranted a
number of times over the years at why their method is a *lousy* method for
blocking spam in the second decade of the 21st century.
Now this: here's another argument as

Running CentOS 6.7, on an older HP DL580 G5. We've got a Dell 12-bay RAID

plug it in.
The layout is that the Dell RAID is dual-pathed DAS. Each PERC has two DAS
ports. We've got the Dell RAID in the top port of each PERC. I *thought* I

If nixspam doesn't gag me again - tried to respond yesterday.

internal.

That is not the only harm. These people are very good and very effective
confidence tricksters and are experts at getting vulnerable people to send
them money which they usually cannot affort to lose in the first place.

drop manitu.net
listadmin,
Can you PLEASE, PLEASE find *any* other blacklist than manitu? This
asshole's method was ok a dozen years ago; these days, with hosting sites
hosting tens or hundreds of thousands of domains, with too many running
Windows, and so infected and sending out spam. They then send all mail via
one mailhost, with the result that those of us with *no* spam coming out
