Question about mesurating time
Hello ,
Is there any function to mesurate the duration of a procedure (like tic
and toc in matlab) ?
Tic
Source("procedure.R")
Toc
(toc is the duration between the execution of tic and the execution of

[newbie] mesuring adequation of normal distribution with a variable
Hello,
I'm looking for a way of mesuring the adequation of a given variable with
the normal distribution. Does R provide a standard test for this purpose,
or is there a statistical methodology?

he^lp on "stack" function
Excuse me.
I don't understant how to use the function "stack".
I'm not sure to know the good syntax.
I've got a data witch column names are the time when the mesures was done and
an
other who indicates the age of the subjetcs.
I would like to do a new matrix with patients older than a value and the new
matrix will contain in the first column the time of the mesures and in the
second th evalue of the mesure.
Could you help me please ?

"id"...
So I need to copy all the values of the columns "VEMS5A",... "VEMS18A" in "VEMS"
and in "id" the "id" corresponding and in "age" the values between 5 and 18
corresponding to the age of the subject when the mesure was done. And this only
when the value in "cohort" was 1.

question about survival datas with repeated mesurements
I have to study censured datas concernig the occurence of infection at the point of insertion of catheter in patients with renal disease. Catheter may be removed for ather reasons than infection, in this case, the observation is censored. Each has exactly 2 observations. The question are the pronostic factors of infection (the other variables are; age, sex, type of renal disease...). Could you

Hardware Specifications
Does anyone know where i can find out how powerful a machine has to be to
handle a certain amount of call volume?
Eg, 2Ghz is enough processing power to maintain 100 calls at a time.
4Ghz is engouh to process 250 calls etc etc.
Thanks

Contact-closure UPS
...Unfortunately, I don't think there is a safe way (in software) to determine whether the UPS is not receiving the signal, or whether the PC is not receiving the reply.
>
>If you have a multimeter, you could check pin 9 on the UPS relative to pin 4/7 to see if it is being driven negative.
I mesured it and on DC and it shows 0 V (zero V).
May be the information (pls. see attachment) that UPS PIN1 should bee keept HI is mandatory. Should I connect it to PC PIN4 DTR?
OR
I need to follow with contact closure cable?

: Question about correlation between data.
hi everybody, I'm a student, and I'm new using R!
I'm looking for statistical
help hoping somebody can answer me!
This is my problem:
I have 2 temporal
series. The firstone is a series of mesured data (height of monitorated
points), the second is a series of temperature (in Celsius degree).
Using
Matlab I have built the two graphs (Measured Data - Time & Temperature -
Time).
Looking those graphs I can surely say that there is a clear
correlation beetween theme, and also that t...

[OT] "Dispersion" in French
...therwise, how to ensure that it
shall be less than 5%?
So my question is: What, in English, would one use for "dispersion"?
Standard deviation?
Just as in English, also in general French usage in statistics,
"dispersion" is a general term for which one can adopt various
"mesures de dispersion" such as "??cart standard", etc. So in
principle this sentence is as meaningful as the English "The sample
sizes are to be calculated so as to ensure that the dispersion
is less then 5% in each stratum." I would still want to know
which measure of dispersion...

robust correlation in R
Dear R user group,
I'm looking for a robust mesure of correlation in R.
I found a very interesting article by Dr Rich Herrington on

to implement
exaclty this method but my problem is that everything is here developped in
R language and is very slow when the correlation...

File names and e-acute char
Hi.
Samba 1.9.15p8 under IRIX 6.1 (yes I know, it's old stuff ...)
The susers on Windows 9x/WindowsNT just put their strange file name or
directory name (like /usr/people/mesure_?t? ) on the IRIX. However, from
the IRIX side, it's impossible toaccess to such files/directory.
What's more, my ARkeia backup client stalls on such a name and fouled up
my backup database...
NB: Oops: for those that can't read the lines over there

bootstrap pValue in DClusters
...s
about it:
1-how is it possible to get back the bootstrap pValue? I mean the pValue of
the calculated statistic with respect of the distribution of this statistic
under the null hypothesis.
2-how is it possible to test an overdispersion in the poisson model? for
choosing a best model I need this mesure of dispersion. Should I build a
glm(cases~expected,family=quasipoisson)$sig2 or is it possible directly in
DClusters?
Thank you, for advance for answers. Best regards, Erik A.
