Mod_Throttle for Apache 2?
...amount of traffic that each of the webservers would
take and the bandwidth that each client consumes.
Previously I've used Mod_Throttle for Apache 1.3 on other projects,
but on our new servers they are running Apache 2. So are there any
similar solutions for Apache 2?

LinuxWorld Expo Update
...s are gone, and I've only got a few CentOS DVD's left.
So if anyone can magically make 500 or 600 CentOS CD's magically
appear, that would be great. :-> Anyway, I'll try to keep everyone
posted during the day. Time to go back to the convention center.

Centos at FOSDEM in Brussels?
Hi,
I'm a Centos user in Brussels, BE. I'll be going to the FOSDEM conference
next weekend and I was thinking about printing up and giving out centos CDs
while there.
1) any other centos folks going to be at FOSDEM?
2) any guidelines for printing CD's - I can only run 50 or 100...

Question about YUM
Pardon my ignorance, but if I update or install a package via rpm will YUM
pick that up in subsequent updates? Or should I be using YUM for installs if I
plan to use it for updates?

<OT> RedHat support
As a parallel question to my thread about CentOS for commercial use,
here's a question I've been wondering about.
How many of you who have RHEL licenses and paid support licenses have
ever needed actually to request support? And if you did was the
support any bit more timely or accurate than community support for
CentOS or other distros?

PHP+Oracle problem
Hi!
I have succesfully installed Oracle 9.2.0.4 on Centos. Everything is
fine with it.
Then I recompiled php-4.3.2-19.ent.src.rpm with
rpmbuild --rebuild --define 'oracle 1' php-4.3.2-19.ent.src.rpm
The compilation was successful, and I got the php and the php-oci8
rpms.
Then I installed them both. After this one running the following PHP

Local mirrors and ISP transfer bills
As a matter of policy and because I'm at the end of a DS/1 that needs to
feed
my customers needs, I've set up a local subset mirror of Centos 3.3. It's a
subset because I don't copy any of the x86_64 directories ( no machines that
use them ) but it's also a superset because I've added an additional "local"
directory structure that contains things that I need -

OT: Which programming language should I use?
Sorry for the OT post, just looking for a pointer from somebody who's
been there and done that.
I'm looking to write a program that will allow for managing documents
that have been encrypted with AES. I want the program to be as
cross-platform as possible, so at the least it needs to run in
Win2K/WinXP and in linux X-windows (X.org).
Now, I used to write in Java a few years ago, so

confession
Gang,
I've got to admit, what really sold me on debian was apt-get. And
I've been resisting getting up to speed with yum. So, can any of ya
point me to a good starter page, maybe one with migrators like me in
mind? Many thanks.

Oracle Apps on Linux
Hi folks,
I seem to remember someone asking how to install Oracle Apps on Linux so
here goes a quick and dirty how-to:-
0 - You will need access to Metalink (Oracle's support site) for
downloading patches and read documentation on line.
1 - Size up your Linux box to at least 1Gb memory and 200Gb of disk space.
I'm assuming you have a Pentium 4 at around 3GHz.
2 - Download and

Red Hat Legal Targets www.centos.org website content
To squelch the questions (related to the changing content on
www.centos.org), I decided this needs to be published.
The CentOS Team has been contacted by representatives of Red Hat's hired
legal team regarding the use of Red Hat Trademarks on www.centos.org.
(Full Email follows.) While the CentOS team feels we are using Red
Hat's marks in a fair and legal manner, we have no choice
