"Sticky" Polycom 501 keys and handset
...ond silence at the beginning of a call). Something I've
noticed also on my old phone (which is having the same problem now, but its
also been upgraded).
My keys are sticky. Simple as that. Sometimes I press a number and the key
comes up (the hardware seems fine) but the phone produces this loooong tone
as if I had pressed the key for 3 seconds. Even the receiver is sticky,
giving my dialtone when I lift it only 1-2 seconds after I lift the handset.
It simply looks like the phone can't keep up, like a sluggish computer.
Anybody has ever seem this? I'd like to downgrde to SIP 1.6.7...

Something's wrong on your machine or something. I did the same (but using llvm-gcc for the .ll files). Using a debug build of current ToT I got this:

ABR troubles
...t seem to be a way to determine
the absolute peak bandwidth VBR will output. I thought getting the bitrate
just after setting the vbr quality was the maximum, but this seems to be
just a good guess of the average.
.. Unfortunately, and a bit unexpectedly, the same is true for ABR. If you
have a loooong period of silence in the beginning, st->vbr_quality will
slowly increase. If you then have lots of talking, st->vbr_quality
decreases very very slowly as st->abr_count is now very high. The end
result is that the target bitrate is exceeded quite drastically over short
time periods. As...

HTML rendering is currently disabled (Wanna' play GUNZ!)
Okay, I'm a super super-dee-duper newbster. Aaaaand I'm on a MacBook. Aaaaand I'm running Leopard (10.5.8). So I've used Wine before a loooong time ago for some things, but nothing big. And now I want to play Gunz (from ijji.com). I got everything downloaded (the reactor) and then it tells me something about "Gecko" needing to be installed. I get everything all installed and check "Launch Ijji Reactor" box on the final...

Math problem with xts objects
...e[10] - d$open[9] fails. I just get an answer of "numeric(0) Index: numeric(0)".
My guess is that xts is breaking because the two items in my equation have different time stamps. However, the actual data is correct, and the xts matrix looks correct.
Note: It works if I do things the loooong way around.
as.numeric(d$close[10]) - as.numeric( d$open[9] )
But, that is horrendously slow.
Suggestions?

Printing OK on 98, "Access denied" on XP Pro
I have a very simple setup on a Solaris 8 server, running Samba 3.0.1 (see smb.conf below). A desktop PC running Windows 98 (SE?) happily connects to and prints to my one shared printer, but an XP Pro laptop takes a loooong time to install the local driver and then just says "Access denied, unable to connect".
I already told it to use a client driver and disabled spoolss. Here's my smb.cnf file:

...ndom disconnections. So long as Tripp-Lite is not sharing their
code with us, I think this will remain a mystery. At some point they
are going to *have* to either update their Linux binaries, or drop
them altogether. The specific distributions that they support with
their proprietary software is loooong out of date. Perhaps at that
point they will open source the code?
Also there seems to be some speculation (or perhaps you know for a
fact) that the Tripp Lite actually includes a serial to USB converter
inside of the device. I have a stockpile of these awaiting
deployment. Maybe I will open on...

Acts _As_Ferret - How to confirm Indexing is complete?
Hello I have a couple of questions, Hope someone here can help answer
them.
I am using acts_as_ferret on a model Item with around 10 million rows.
I use Item.rebuild_index at the ruby console to build the index. It
seems to run for at least 48 hours when building.
My questions are:
1) How do you know when the indexing is over and complete?
2) How can you confirm that ALL records in the table

rsync of big image files from virtual hosts takes lot of time
...expect just some tens of megabyte needed to be transfered.
I have the following command line:
rsync -av --no-whole-file --inplace source destination.
Is that ok ? Any suggestions ?
I skipped the check with the hash values before the transfer because creating a hash value from a 400GB file takes loooong.
But the man pages mentione that nevertheless AFTER the transfer a hash value is created on both sides to check that the files are equal.
Is it possible to switch the after-transfer check off ?
I have SLES 12 SP3 and rsync 3.1.0
Thanks.

MooseFS does not ask for mmap coherence. It has inconsistent results on
a plain -rw test. I think the chaps over there are interested in gaining
some input from your considerable experience. If they...

Is it valid to run the GLM with log(x+1) transformed data if link=identity?
Or am I violating some kind of assumption about the model?
I really appreciate any advice or thoughts! It seems as if my go-to
statistician has taken a loooong break and any help would be greatly valued!
