Access Database SLOW
I've got a user that wants an Access database shared out. I've got a decent machine serving out the directory (300 MHz Pentium II) running RedHat 5.0 (kernel 2.0.34) with Samba 1.9.17p4 (RPM is samba-1.9.17p4-3). I've created a simple share entry in the smb.conf file: [global] debug level = 1 browsable = yes comment = Samba under Linux (RedHat 5.0) domain master = yes

Soft link trouble with rsync on SGI
Rsync v: 3.0.1 OS: IRIX 6.5.28f HW Plat: SGI 2400 Disclaimer: I am running rsync 3.0.1. It's difficult and costly for us to get new versions put on our system, so I'm hoping you will all help me out anyways. If the solution is indeed suspected in a later version of rsync, then we will go through the pain to get it installed.

smbstatus show open files when none are
I recently (a few weeks ago) installed 1.9.18p8 in order to get better performance with an Access Database, which along with adding a TCP_NODELAY in the [global] section has that working like a charm. Thing that's bugging me now is smbstatus. When I run it I see open files listed when I know that they aren't. The following output shows quite a few files open that aren't really. The

Hello everyone, Thank you for producing the portable version of OpenSSH. I have a small problem that I hope someone on here has perhaps seen before. I am running OpenSSH 4.5p1 under a PowerPC build of LynxOS v3. Everything builds and runs except there is a strange behavior that occurs in a particular situation. If you SSH to the system and then exit by typing "logout" then it works

Uninstall Wine Software doesn't work
When I try to use "Uninstall Wine Software" it does nothing. Some applications seem to uninstall but they remain on the list and on the disk. Others, namely Office 2007, will not even pretend to uninstall. How do I get rid of them?

Public shares w/ security = user
Configuration: RedHat 5.0 w/ Samba 1.9.18p8. My servers don't do domain logins. I picked a workgroup called OCALA-CIM for it. I have clients connecting from standalone desktops w/o domain logins to anyone and others that connect from desktops that are fully logged into a NT domain, which is called ACCT03 and these desktops seem to be mostly setup to be in a workgroup called EMC. Connecting a Samba box to NT shares via smbclient
Anyone who can help, We have set up a Samba server running on solaris 2.5 and everything going in the direction of NT to Unix works great. I have experience doing this part. We are having problems getting things to work in reverse which unfortunately is our main reason for installing Samba. We wish eventually to mount two NT machines via samba so they can be included in the current Unix

Shared Memory and Semaphore Errors
Hello, I am fighting an error I get when I try to compile Samba in IRIX. While checking the archives I noticed references to the same errors I was getting. In the last two weeks I have seen the error appear twice on two more OS'es; AIX and Digital Unix, and now today someone is having the same error on a DG/UX box: [1999/10/07 11:49:44, 0] locking/shmem_sysv.c:sysv_shm_open(597) ERROR:

W2K not registering correct disk space
On a W2K machine, I can easily check the correct hard disk space of my share. However, I have a directory on my share which is linked (on the UNIX side) to another device with more storage. My problem is that W2K is having problems checking the disk space over multiple devices. Has anyone seen this problem and/or know of any solutions? Ed Fatula Lockheed Martin M&DS Gaithersburg, MD

Support for AD native mode.
Hello All! I was trying to find out which version of samba, if any is supported in an Active Directory native mode environment? We currently are running mixed mode with NT4 domain controllers but want to switch over ASAP. I was curious if samba authenticated to a kerberos WIN2K domain controller. Thanks in advance for your help. Regards, David "Tony" Perea Unix System
