I recently (a few weeks ago) installed 1.9.18p8 in order
to get better performance with an Access Database, which along
with adding a TCP_NODELAY in the [global] section has that
working like a charm. Thing that's bugging me now is smbstatus.
When I run it I see open files listed when I know that they aren't.
The following output shows quite a few files open that aren't
really. The program, "sw/label/label.exe", running off the
"ois"
share along with the Visual Basic DLL ("sw/label/vb40032.dll")
are the only things that would normally show up under my previous
version of Samba, and that's what I'd expect, since all the other
programs run are transient.
Any ideas or explanations? I've added my [global] section also just
in case someone wants to see it.

It looks like smbstatus shows lots of .exe files open. When Windows lists a directory, it looks like it opens all .exe files to look for their icons to display them. That might explain why you see all those open files. They should get closed after a little while. Does this make sense?
