Drawing Maps of detailed Australian regions
Hi all, I'm trying to draw a bubble plot over a map -- where the map shows local government areas (LGA) in Australia (or other structures under the Australian Standard Geographical Classification), but am not sure where I can find the data to plot such maps (e.g. draw the state of Northern Territory but also showing LGA divisions). Any help will be greatly appreciated, apologies if this is a simpl...

Hmmm. RJ-45 on TDMx0B card?
Just wondering if there's any significance to the jacks on the TDM cards. They appear to be RJ-45 instead of RJ-11, and I wasn't quite sure if that's something that makes a difference from the user perspective. . . Thx. B.

Ruby on Rails Presentation to Agile Atlanta Group tonight...
Hi everyone, We had a really successful meeting tonight in Atlanta. The topic was an introduction to Ruby on Rails and our attendance was 30 people, which is over double of what we normally get. (Our attendance has dropped since moving the venue about 25 miles north of the city. The majority of the group stayed well past two hours, at which point we took a break. The entire presentation and

...PSU, if it is also having problems), and if so, I will give this one to my Stepson and go the bare bones box route and have a more powerful box for myself. I looked at two (2) very low end Desktop mainboards in the store. The one that seems the most interesting is the Biostar P4M890-M7 TE (a Socket LGA 775 board). If possible, I would like to verify that CentOS 5 (32 bit) will work properly, out of the box, or with very simple changes. The Chipset is shown as VIA P4M890/VT8237A. The Graphic chip is shown as Unichrome Pro I GP. The NIC chip shown as Realtek RTL8201CL PHY and the Sound Codec is AL...

SQL "editor"
Hello all, I am curious about what tools you guys use to make your databases. I know David uses CocoaMySQL. Are there other tools for other platforms and for other databases? I''m not very good with the SQL language, so I would like being able to do all my database setup with an easy-to-use tool (defining tables, fields, primary keys, foreign keys, indexes, etc.) Big kisses, Vincent.

Looking for some hardware answers, maybe someone on this list could help
I posted a thread here... http://forums.opensolaris.com/thread.jspa?threadID=596 I am trying to finish building a system and I kind of need to pick working NIC and onboard SATA chipsets (video is not a big deal - I can get a silent PCIe card for that, I already know one which works great) I need 8 onboard SATA. I would prefer Intel CPU. At least one gigabit port. That''s about it. I

Motherboard for home zfs/solaris file server
Hello, I am building a home file server and am looking for an ATX mother board that will be supported well with OpenSolaris (onboard SATA controller, network, graphics if any, audio, etc). I decided to go for Intel based boards (socket LGA 775) since it seems like power management is better supported with Intel processors and power efficiency is an important factor. After reading several posts about ZFS it looks like I want ECC memory as well. Does anyone have any recommendations? Here are a few that I found. Any comments about...

ZFS - Implementation Successes and Failures
Hi Firstly apologies for the spam if you got this email via multiple aliases. I''m trying to document a number of common scenarios where ZFS is used as part of the solution such as email server, $homeserver, RDBMS and so forth but taken from real implementations where things worked and equally importantly threw up things that needed to be avoided (even if that was the whole of ZFS!).

usb drives & Orico ORICO 9548U3-BK
...o a software reboot, I am required to turn off the power supply for a couple of seconds and then turn it back on before I hit the power switch on the computer. I have played with the bios setting until my eyes are blurry, but have not been able to solve the problem. I am using a ASUS H110M-E/M.2 LGA 1151 Intel H110 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Motherboard. My thought is that if I could force the usb drives to be labeled as /dev/sdc and /dev/sdd whether the mouse and keyboard are attached or not, I might be able to fix the problem Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your responses!!!! Gr...
