analysing a three level reponse
Hello,
I am struggling to figure out how to analyse a dataset I have inherited
(please note this was conducted some time ago, so the data is as it is,
and I know it isn't perfect!).
A brief description of the experiment follows:
Pots of grass were grown in 1l pots of standad potting medium for 1
month with a regular light and watering regime. At this point they were
randomly given 1l of one

dose.p in MASS
Dear all
I need to obtain an estimate of the 50% lethal dose (LD50) from a
logistic regression model obtained by applying the glm procedure to
some binomial data. The model appears to fit the data very well. I
used dope.p from MASS to try and find LD50.
The following output appears:
> dose.p(iso.glm.logit, cf = c(1,3), p = 1:3/4)
Error in dose.p(iso.glm.logit, cf = c(1, 3), p = 1:3/4) :

coding techniques
Whilst debugging a problem in dovecot LDA over the last few days, I came
across two different issues in coding techniques.
(Note: Please don't take this negatively; my intent is both positive and
constructive!)
The front page of the website www.dovecot.org says:
"it uses several coding techniques to avoid most of the common pitfalls"
So I hope it is OK to follow the spirit of

Probit analysis
Respected Sir/Madam,
I have a question regarding calculation of LD50 (Lethal Dose) and IC50 (50%
inhibitory concentration) of an antimicrobial experiment.
I have used a compound isolated from a plant and observed its effect on the
fungus *Fusarium oxysporum* by the food poisoning method. Solutions of the
compound at concentrations of 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250µg/ ml were added

How to lower float charge voltage of an APC Smart UPS unit
You can lower the float charge voltage that APC Smart UPS units such as
SU1000NET or SU700NET supply to the battery. This is important when
substituting Lead Acid Deep Cycle batteries for the usual sealed maintenance
free batteries provided. Here are the instructions:
1) Only do this if you are fully trained and qualified to work on Lead Acid
powered UPS. These units contain lethal voltages

announcement tone to callees of app_page
using app_page on asterisk 1.6.1.6, as documented, the 'q' option only
determines if the caller is sent a 'beep' tone when conferencing.
is there a way (existing or someone sending me a patch) to also make
app_page beep all of the extensions being called?
someone adding an 'a' (announce tone) parameter to app_page would be perfect.

Access Database
One of our servers is a CentOS 4 Linux/Samba filesharing server that
serves an access database (via a mapped drive) to a client application
running on Windows 98.
Ever since we started rsync'ing it to back it up every night, it required
samba to be restarted after the backup or the clients had trouble
accessing the database. Recently though, the client application is
complaining when

Permanent stream
Hi, all. I'm setting up a system that streams audio from a public radio studio
to it's transmitter on a mountaintop via a wireless IP link. The stream is a
high quality ogg-vorbis stream (around 200 kbps). The server (icecast) is
working perfectly.
The client (I'm using ogg123) has to connect 24/7/365, but it occasionally
(maybe every couple of days) looses the stream and stops.

Question concerning file permissions in Samba 3.3.4
We're running Samba 3.3.4 on RHEL 5 Linux, using Active Directory
authentication.
I've noticed that we are able to assign NTFS "Full Control" permissions to
directories; however, we are unable to do the same on the files contained
within those directories. Is there a default setting that is preventing us
from being able to assign them? Note that this happens even at the very

RCurl cookiejar
R-helpers,
When I use cURL in the Terminal:
curl --cookie-jar cookie.txt --url "http://corpusdelespanol.org/x.asp" --user-agent "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0" --location --include
a cookie file "cookie.txt" is saved to my working directory. However, when I try what I think is the equivalent command R with RCurl:

POP (dot) locks
Hello,
just to soothe my paranoia from many years of qpopper usage, which
enforces solitary access to a POP mailbox. Only one login per user is
possible at the same time and if a session terminates w/o qpopper being
properly notified it will remain locked for some time, 30 minutes by
default.
With dovecot (0.99.10.4) one can login multiple times (using POP,
with IMAP of course this comes as

[Patch] Enable "sysrq c" handler for domU coredump
Hi,
In the case of linux, crash_kexec() is occured by "sysrq c".
In the case of DomainU on xen, Help is occured by "sysrq c" now.
So The way of dumping DomainU''s memory manualy is nothing.
I fix this issue by the following way.
1. Panic is occured by "sysrq c" on both Domain0 and DomainU.
2. On DomainU, coredump is generated in /var/xen/dump (on Domain0).
