analysing a three level reponse
...0% or 25% in water). There were 20 pots of
grass for each pesticide/concentration giving 320 pots. There were no
control (untreated) pots. The response was measured after 1 week and
recorded as either:
B1 - grass dead
B2 - grass affected but not dead
B3 - no visible effect
I could analyse this as lethal effect vs non-lethal effect (B1 vs B2+B3)
or some effect vs no effect (B1+B2 vs B3) binomial model, but I can't
see how to do it with three levels.
Any pointing in the right direction greatly appreciated!
Thanks

dose.p in MASS
Dear all
I need to obtain an estimate of the 50% lethal dose (LD50) from a
logistic regression model obtained by applying the glm procedure to
some binomial data. The model appears to fit the data very well. I
used dope.p from MASS to try and find LD50.
The following output appears:
> dose.p(iso.glm.logit, cf = c(1,3), p = 1:3/4)

established C practices.
Firstly, many 'if' statements having a single statement (whether in then
or else part) are currently written in a short-cut fashion:
if (condition)
statement 1;
else

This, though technically legal, is potentially lethal when inserting (say)
debugging statements. Without diligence it is all to easy to produce:
if (condition)
debug 1a;
statement 1;
debug 1b;
else

statement 2;
debug 2b;

Probit analysis
Respected Sir/Madam,
I have a question regarding calculation of LD50 (Lethal Dose) and IC50 (50%
inhibitory concentration) of an antimicrobial experiment.
I have used a compound isolated from a plant and observed its effect on the
fungus *Fusarium oxysporum* by the food poisoning method. Solutions of the
compound at concentrations of 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250µg/ ml we...

is there a way (existing or someone sending me a patch) to also make
app_page beep all of the extensions being called?
someone adding an 'a' (announce tone) parameter to app_page would be perfect.
with auto-answer turned on with my cisco 7940 phones, i find it lethal that
someone can page my phone and listen to what i'm doing without me realizing
it (unless i look at the phone to see it's on speakerphone)

Access Database
...ery night, it required
samba to be restarted after the backup or the clients had trouble
accessing the database. Recently though, the client application is
complaining when more than one client attempts to connect to the database.
I suspect all of this is related somehow.
Is there some sort of lethal interaction between samba, rsync and access
databases that I am blissfully ignorant of? I thought rsync only opened a
target file for reading (which should only update the atime), which
shouldn't affect what's going on in samba-land.

RCurl cookiejar
R-helpers,
When I use cURL in the Terminal:
curl --cookie-jar cookie.txt --url "http://corpusdelespanol.org/x.asp" --user-agent "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0" --location --include
a cookie file "cookie.txt" is saved to my working directory. However, when I try what I think is the equivalent command R with RCurl:

POP (dot) locks
Hello,
just to soothe my paranoia from many years of qpopper usage, which
enforces solitary access to a POP mailbox. Only one login per user is
possible at the same time and if a session terminates w/o qpopper being
properly notified it will remain locked for some time, 30 minutes by
default.
With dovecot (0.99.10.4) one can login multiple times (using POP,
with IMAP of course this comes as

[Patch] Enable "sysrq c" handler for domU coredump
Hi,
In the case of linux, crash_kexec() is occured by "sysrq c".
In the case of DomainU on xen, Help is occured by "sysrq c" now.
So The way of dumping DomainU''s memory manualy is nothing.
I fix this issue by the following way.
1. Panic is occured by "sysrq c" on both Domain0 and DomainU.
2. On DomainU, coredump is generated in /var/xen/dump (on Domain0).
