Is it possible to use quorum for CTDB to prevent split-brain and removing lockfile in the cluster file system
...mplementation and disconnected determination of GlusterFS (or other cluster file system). In my knowledge, GlusterFS will determine some node is disconnected after 42 seconds and release its lock. In this configuration, node A and B will ban themselves and the newly elected recovery master will ban itslef. It's a really bad thing and we can not treat the cluster file system as a blackbox using the lockfile design. Hence, I have an idea about the opportunity to build CTDB with split-brain prevention without lockfile. Using quorum concepts to ban a node might be an option and I do a little modifi...

smbmount of XP share results in Permission Denied
Mark Hessling posted about this problem earlier but I (and he) have not seen any reply to his original post. I was running Samba 3.0.0 on a Redhat 7.3 server for quite a while and then recently upgraded to RHEL 3.0 and Samba 3.0.9 (3.0.10 most recently). Before the upgrade, I was able to, from the Samba server, mount shares from an XP box. After the upgrade, the mount succeeds (it shows up the

Problems installing R
Hi, I am new to Linux and have a linux machine running ubuntu (hardy heron). I installed R 2.9.1 using the deb file provided on the R website. However I can't install 'affy' - one of the R packages and apparently this is because of the lib settings. I've tried to install R using the command line but I can't add: deb http://cran.uk.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu hardy to my

Can''t install rails, instructions in the book are wrong....
I can''t even get Rails installed in Windows XP. I follow the directions in "Agile Web Development With Rails", I download Ruby, then RubyGems, and I install those, and I then type the command that came right out of the book. C:\ruby>gem install rails --include-dependencies and it doesn''t even work: C:\ruby>"C:\ruby\bin\ruby.exe"
