tc on a PDA
hello,
i have a 5500 iPaq with familiar 0.8.2 on it and i don''t know how to
install a traffic shaper tool on it.
I installed iproute2 package i found on familiar site and for that i
have the tc and ip commands, but when trying to add a qdisc, as a
dummy example, i get the next answer:
> tc qdisc add dev wlan0 root cbq bandwidth 100Mbit avpkt 100

Broken filters?
Hi!
By iptables I set marking (-j MARK) just before -j IMQ.
There are only three marks. Exectly all of them are ditected to 1:20
Why I see 3 pkts in default 1:30?
How explain it?
### imq0: queueing disciplines
qdisc htb 1: r2q 10 default 30 direct_packets_stat 0
Sent 631429 bytes 1812 pkts (dropped 0, overlimits 20)
### imq0: traffic classes
class htb 1:20 root prio 0 rate 100Kbit ceil

Is there something I''m missing here...

problem with the "arp" command (using the pub flag)
Hi all.
I experienced a strange behaviour in the "arp" command when I use the
"pub" (publishing) flag.
This is the scenario (I know it''s an unusual one, but it''s just for a test):

tc limit
Hi
I have been playing with tc. I''m using htb and sfq. I tried to setup
shaping of every ip address within a /20.
I found that there must be an upper limit of about 2096 on the number
of rules (classes, qdiscs or filters). I was testing a /20 which gives
4096 classes, qdiscs and filters. I''m using hashkey to optimize
processing of frames.
When executing the script below - it

HTB stalling
Hi
Couple months ago I started to have a strange problem with HTB.
My setup is Fedora Core 2 + Pentium 2 233 + 128 MB of ram and its serving as
a router.
For some time since going to kernel 2.6 my HTB QoS Stalls for couple
seconds, every couple minutes. If the connection load is bigger the stalling
is more frequent and takes longer.
I isolated the problem to be with HTB (CBQ works fine).

latest code
Hi,
Im trying to download the iproute2 source code from the freshmeat.net.
I''m having problem downloading the latest code. Is this a known issue
or just me getting this problem. Is version
iproute2-2.6.11-050330.tar.gz a good version instead of the latest?
Thanks.

I downloded it from
http://www.ssi.bg/~alex/esfq/<http://www.ssi.bg/%7Ealex/esfq/>
What kernel version? If your kernel is 2.6 then get this patch:

Please document this
Stephen,
This REALLY needs to be fixed in the code; tc should reject as a syntax
error any "add filter" command that does not include a "prio"
parameter. It also needs to be documented.

How does one increase the output buffer size?
In 2.4 kernels, there was a [bp]fifo that could be implemented with ''tc
add'', but in 2.6 kernels, I find no way to create either of these
fifos. I am able to increase txqueuelen.
What I desire is a larger number of backlogged packetes before drops
occur.
How can the output buffer size be increased for HTB?

simple routing protocol for VPN redundancy?
Hello all,
I need a very simple routing protocol for VPN redundancy.
We have several sites and each site has a Linux router and two IPCops each
with an ADSL connection to the internet using different ISP''s.
I have configured VPN''s between all of the sites for each IPcop on ispA and
the same for the IPCops on ispB. This way, if one of the ISP fails, I change

Help? Router/Bandwidth throttle needed.
I hope this list is still active. I''m an experienced Linux Sysadmin, but I
haven''t done much in the way of routing. Due to a decision made by my
higherups, I need to jam a computer between my ISP and my LAN to do
bandwidth throttling.
My current setup:
1 Crappy Cable Modem (7Mb/768Kb connection) with a static IP.
4 servers (all have static, routable IPs) - One of which is

Open Source Project "Q*Box" Launched
Hello all.
I created a "plug and play" kind of solution for bridge-based QoS
LAN-WAN traffic shaping. Based on the LEAF bering-uClibc branch, I''m
calling it ''QBox'' and the project site for now is located at:

IPRoute2 vs Iptables
Hi all,
As I read into the forum, NATting (SNAT) is expensive, using iptables to
translate IP sucks the performance of the system. I just want to know if
IProute2 can handle NATting and if it handels NATting can it performed
faster than iptables?
thanks,

tc filter problem
Hi,
I''m using a linux 2.4.29 kernel and having trouble getting my filters added. The
script I''m editing I actually use on a different system currently. Is this a
tc/iproute/kernel type incompatibility? Any ideas how to debug it?
Thanks, Jeremy
# create a qdisc on T1 interface
tc qdisc add dev w1g1 root handle 1: htb default 77
OK
# create a master class
