How come wine doesn't improve?
Even though wine versions get released often and the weekly newsletters seem to report progress I get the impression that wine is not really improving. Of course it happens that some applications work with newer wine versions which didn't work with older ones, but at the same time old applications stop working. Is it only me that gets the impression that wine only changes over time, but

First time Dovecot user, really impressed so far. What is best IMAP enabled webmail package to go with Dovecot?
Greetings everyone, I'm new to the list as of today. I just installed Dovecot a couple of days ago for the first time, Debian Lenny Dovecot v1.0.15-2.3. So far I'm pretty impressed. I'm using mbox format with Dovecot auto-deciding to place mail in user home directories, which is great. It works very well with the Win32 Thunderbird 3 client over a small basic 100FDX switched net. I've got one list mail folder with 10,600 messages and server side body searching that...

I''m leaving this list ....
Hi, I''m subscribed to this mailing list for a long time. During that time, I enjoyed reading all posts and try to understand them :) LARTC started as a something I could use to impress my boss. After a while it became clear to me that my boss was not impressed ;(, but I kept following this list because it was fun. I also placed a lot documentation online on http://www.docum.org/docum.org/. But right now, I don''t have the time anymore to do this. So I''m leaving this list. I will keep my pages online on docum.org....

Looking for a Rails AJAX gallery/tutorial
Hello everyone, Do any of you know of a downloadable Rails app that demonstrates all the bundled AJAX-iness in an impressive form? I''m looking for two things: - something I can show off to wow people with Rails'' built-in AJAX power, then show them the code that does the work and wow them again with the simplicity. In short, something that will impress potential customers, as

[LLVMdev] Impressive amount of warnings
Hi Folks, We're still seeing an impressive amount of warnings on the buildbots: http://lab.llvm.org:8011/builders/clang-native-arm-cortex-a9/builds/17541/steps/compile/logs/stdio Seems this is one or two places included from the rest of the world... Any ideas? cheers, --renato

Slideshow/presentation software for CentOS
I am looking for software to make slideshows/presentations on CentOS, incorporating photos, videos and text (possibly also music) allowing for transition effects etc. I'd like to be able to drag and drop/rearrange photos etc. from different folders into a timeline and eventually end up with something I can show. Ideally without having to make copies of photos and store them in a folder

Experiences with RAM and CPU Demand of Rails Applications?
Hello. given the fact that there are numerous different hosting offers with different parameters and technologies, I would like to ask if there are some heuristics or rules of thumb existing to determine the demand of an own rails application? Input parameters would be something like: page impressions/day, average site size (in KB), average complexity of the rails logic of a site example 1

gallium state tracker calls calloc for 0 sizes arrays ?
Hi All, While debugging: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1008089 I made a apitrace recording of the a single slide transition animation, and since I suspected memory corruption replayed it using ElectrFence + glretrace, this finds a 0 sized array allocation at src/mesa/state_tracker/st_glsl_to_tgsi.cpp: 5565: if (proginfo->Parameters) {

Enumerable
Hi and sorry if this has already been discussed. I''m new on theese lists, and I couldn''t find a way to search through them. I have been looking at the sources of script.aculo.us and I''m rather impressed by the Enumerable class. What I don''t get is why you choose to extend Array.prototype with this addon. It seems like a rather intrusive thing to do, if the code is ever going to play ball with other javascript components. It''s a half-baked solution anyway, since there are a lot of...

Asterisk - first impressions
I'm still a newbie in Asterisk, just yesterday installed it for home use (so I can call home while travelling). Using AVM A1 (BT Speedway) ISDN card. Anyway, I find it very hard to locate supporting information for Asterisk. User's Handbook is still a draft, this mailing list is not easily searchable, and any info out on Usenet is scarce. I spent some 30mins just trying to find out naming

good small registrar?
Greetings, What are some registrars that members of this list have had good experience with? I was stepping through the godaddy checkout process, and being opted-in to a dozen different upsell features just left a bad impression. But I have no clue who else to go with. -Eugene -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

ActiveRecord, blocking or async, logging, syslog/udp
Here''s a gedanken experiment for those w/ far more knowledge than I about ActiveRecord, etc.: Let''s say my database is very remote and on a very slow machine. Let''s further say that my app has an action that leads to a very simple insert into the "impressions" table of the db, a la "INSERT INTO impressions(docid) VALUES($docid);" - and
