Rails 2.3 memcache performance drop
After much effort I upgraded our fairly large Rails app from 2.1 to 2.3. After deployment yesterday I noticed an across the board increase in response times. It seems that every call to memcache now takes 10x longer than before. Here are some example numbers from my development log (below), with memcache running locally. We see similar scale of performance drop in production as well - average

Regression query
Hi I have a set of data with both quantitative and categorical predictors. After scaling of response variable, i looked for multicollinearity (VIF values) among the predictors and removed the predictors who were hinding some of the other significant predictors. I'm curious to know whether the predictors (who are not significant) while doing simple 'lm' will be involved in

The installed ISC DLV key installed with bind-9.8.2-0.68.rc1.el6_10.3.x86_64 seems to have expired and there does not appear to be a new bind-9.8.2 RPM with a new key. I guess you can

Trying to upgrade from R 2.7.1
[Running debian stable] I followed the instructions at http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian, adding deb http://cran.R-project.org/bin/linux/debian lenny-cran/ to /etc/apt/sources.list. But apt-get still leaves me with R 2.7.1. How can I diagnose what's wrong or correct this? euclid: /etc/apt # apt-get update Hit http://debian.yorku.ca stable Release.gpg Ign http://debian.yorku.ca

Installing R in Ubuntu
Hello, I am new to Ubuntu (Linux in general) and I am trying to install R: so far, I am stuck. I have followed the instructions at the CRAN website with little luck. I read an exchange about the same issue posted before, but did not give me enough information to solve things by myself, hence, this email. Based on the former exchange I read, I am trying to include enough information to see if

Problem Updating from 2.71 to 2.8 in Ubuntu
Hello, I have recently installed Ubuntu (8.10) Intrepid Ibex and I am trying to get R version 2.8. I have changed my /etc/apt/sources.list file to include a mirror. I have also added the Vincent Goulet key. However, whenever I run sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install r-base it installs version 2.71. Given that I am new to Ubuntu, is there anything that I need to do to make ubuntu get

Hit mongrel once...all is well, hit it again...stack level too deep?
Hi there. I''ve dropped a mongrel log item here: http://pastie.caboo.se/62052 I can hit my app fine, once. Hitting it again gives me a 500 error and this log entry. I think it''s application code causing the problem as I have a second app running that doesn''t have this behavior, but I''m unsure how to proceed finding root cause here. Suggestions?

htb: HowTo identify squid cache hits
...ct: - The DMZ: all packages with a src ip from my DMZ go to the big 98/100 bucket. - The Internet: all packages with a dst ip in one of our 6 networks gets placed in one of the 6 333/2000 buckets. But there is of course a src of packages I do not catch this way... and these are the squid cache hits. Because I filter on destination the cache hits get treated the same as cache misses. But cache hits are in effect local traffic... they do not originate from the Internet. So here (finally) the question.. Is there a way to identify cache hits from misses? I took a look at the advanced filtering...

simple website hit counter

I want a simple hit counter cgi script of some kind that will increment a counter on every page load but I want to access the counter from a different page. In other words, I don't want to have a visible hit counter on the webpage itself. I want to have a different webpage that will show me the

Sorting and getting occurrences of search in hit
Is there any way you could get the number of occurrences of the search in one hit? In a result I get the ferret_rank and ferret_score but not how many hits the search generated in the current record. I would also like to be able to sort after this when I search. /mattias -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
