I know how hard it is getting to grips with all the things that go into making a successful samba domain with an ldapsam backend but it really seems like you haven't taken the time to read the samba guide: http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/ It has some hearty recipes that can really help you. The answer to the above is that you use some scripts to add users to the ldap backend. The smbldap-tools, despite what Tony Earnshaw thinks of them, work fine in the majority of situations.
