Connecting problem:Need Help
I have problem connecting a win 98 client to a samba
2.2.5 server on a linux box running redhat 7.2
I can see the server on the client but when I click
the server icon I get \\lindoze is no accessible.
At that moment I have scanned the lan card an I have
this screen dump.

Samba 2.2.5 is crap.
Unstable windozes (hangs all the time)
Major bugs in the printing system, mount and smbmount commands.
Samba 2.2.5 is completely usable if you ask me. Crap I would say and
should never been released. I consider to change to Beeweb although it
cost money.
BTW how do u uninstall the dirt?? using ./uninstall ???

[stable 9]Dell R620 Ethernet Ordering
I'm trying to understand the newbus and acpi interactions on this Dell
R620 that result in the Broadcom adapter board being probed "backwards"
or just plain out of order in comparison to the connector layout and the
linux tg3 driver.
We seem to be detecting PCI0:2:0 before PCI0:1:0. This seems odd to me.
When I replace the broadcom daughter card with an intel daughter card,

loading printers
I just configured a server to use the CUPS printing system and have all
my printers shared out by Samba. I made all the necessary changes to
the smb.conf file but don't want to restart samba in the middle of the
day since it is a high traffic server and don't want to break
connections. Is there a way to just have samba load all these printers
without restarting the service????

samba domeinlogon
Hi,
I'm using Unix now for the last 2 years, so I'm learning everyday new
things. Now I'm trying to configure Samba 2.2.5 (on Freebsd 4.4) so that
w2k machines can logon to the domain.
I added several users to smbpasswd (which are real users on the server. I
would like to have "virtual users" which don't have a real account but
that's an other problem)
In several

Suddenly can't print: "rec_read bad magic..."
Suddenly, today, my wife's Windows 95 machine can't print to the
network printer on my Linux machine. It complains that "there was an
error printing to \\posh\lp ... There was a problem printing to the
port."
The error 1st occurred (coincidentally?) after I had upgraded the
kernel from 2.4.18 to 2.4.19. But rebooting to 2.4.18 has made no
difference.
We're running smbd

As we will migrate to Win XP Client, is there a site, document, etc ...
where I can find information about tests and results of Win XP behaviour

fxp performance with POLLING
Hello again :)
With POLLING enabled I experience about 10%-25% performance drop when
copying files over network. Tested with both SAMBA and NFS. Is it normal?

serious networking (em) performance (ggate and NFS) problem
Dear best guys,
I really love 5.3 in many ways but here're some unbelievable transfer rates,
after I went out and bought a pair of Intel GigaBit Ethernet Cards to solve
my performance problem (*laugh*):
(In short, see *** below)
Tests were done with two Intel GigaBit Ethernet cards (82547EI, 32bit PCI
Desktop adapter MT) connected directly without a switch/hub and "device

Ok, so I ran fsck manually (even with -y), but yet it refuses to clear/fix
whatever to the questions posed as fsck runs. What does this all mean?
Thanks,

Cant print from the windozes.
Well I have samba 2.2.5 installed on a lindoze and a local printer
connected to it. I can print through samba to the printer by typing
this from the command line. lp -P %p filename % and this lpr -P %p
filename %s
I also have cups installed but can not print with this command
lpr-cups -P %p filename %s.
I log inn as root on the win95 client and can not install the printer
as a network printer. But
