...I have
tried higher levels. Changing this parameter doesn't seem to
have an effect. Any suggestions for a cure? What may have
caused this W2k machine to decide it is the LMB?
thanks,

calling outside program to run from R - similar to X command in SAS
I'm new to R and have not been able to find what I am looking for online. I found the system command but that seems to be used for getting lists of directories, etc.
I am trying to replicate something that I used to do in SAS. I am simulating some data (which I can do in R with a particular package) and then trying to call an outside program to fit a specific model to the data. In SAS, the

adding year information to a scatter plot
Hi R users,
I would like to add year information to each point in a scatter plot. The
following
example shows what i mean:
df=data.frame(year=c(2001,2002,2003),a=c(8,9,7),b=c(100,90,95))
df
plot(b~a,data=df)
Now, I would like to see which point belongs to 2001, 2002 and 2003 in the
above
graphic.
Thank you very much,
ozan

4. If you do not wish to assume the true score is a linear function (or
generalized linear function for categorical variables) of the attribute
being measured, then you have a more difficult problem.
If presume you are familiar with SEMnet at

subnet browsing
we have samba [mostly] working in a VPN application connecting two Mandrake
subnets using SSH.
if all machines define the same workgroup name, and we define a single
domain master browser, (with the other subnet defined as a preferred,
local, master browser,) and a single WINS server, after a little while, all
shares are visible to all WIN9x machines. this samba stuff is fantastic!

Sensitivity to sounds with frequency
Hi,
I've looked in various FAQs and web pages for this info, but just can't
seem to find it.
When two tones of two different frequencies sound equally loud, what's the
(rough) relationship between their power? This is for percussive sounds
in music, but I assume it's roughly the same for all sounds. The ear
seems more sensitive at high frequencies. For example, when you

SEM: question regarding how standard errors are calculated
Sorry if this question has been asked previously, I searched but found
little. There also doesn't seem to be a dedicated SEM list-serv so hopefully
this will find its way to the appropriate audience.
In discussing SEM with a colleague I mentioned that a model they were
fitting in AMOS was equivalent to a linear regression and that the
coefficients would be the same. This of course was the

Code for bivariate Poisson regression?
Dear RHelpers,
Does anyone know of any R code to perform bivariate Poisson regression
(including random effects)?

PLS method
dear all,
I am a new comer to R and statistic. Now I have a little confuse about the
package pls.
I have to use 5 components to form a model. There are strong relationship
between some of the components, which leads to the changes of the sign of
each coeficeince, of course this is unwanted when using the normal
regression way. So I choose the way of PLS, which is good at solve this kind

Cramer von Mises test for a discrete distribution
Hi,
?
I'm trying to carry out Cramer von Mises tests between pairs of vectors belonging to a discrete distribution (concretely frequencies from 0 to 200). However, the program crashes in the attempt. The problem seems to be that these vectors only have positive integer numbers (+ zero). When I add a random very small positive decimal to the non-decimal part everything works fine (files prm1

Good afternoon,
Hope you all have a wonderful day. I am glad to be here. Hope you could

Hi R-colleagues.
In the sem-package
i have a problem to introduce hidden variables.
As a simple example I take an ordinary factor analysis.

I also understand this has changed somehow in Samba 2.2..? (Not sure
how that would be possible..?) Anyway, good luck, and I apologize if
this note is covering old territory.
