Spatial Statistics using R
I am looking for online courses to learn Spatial Statistics using R.
Statistics.com is offering an online course in December on the same topic
but that schedule doesn't suit mine. Are there any other similar modes for
learning spatial statistics using R??? Can someone please advice???
Thank you.

Memory limitation in GeoR - Windows or R?
...(but you may meet meory problem anyway). Still
more straigthfully, if you intend to use interpolation methods such as
kriging, you don't need to manage the distance matrix building by
yourself. See:
library(geoR)
library(help=geoR)
?variog
?variofit
?likfit?
etc...
If you want further use geostatics (eg via geoR or gstat), you will
anyway have to manage with memory limits (not due to R). On my computer
(portable HP compaq nx7000) I can hardly manage with more than 2000
observations using geoR (far from your 18227 observations). I had to
krige on a dataset with 9000 observations recently...

kriging C/C++ code
Hello to everybody !
I don't have a question directly connected with R, but it takes starting
point from the use of the R function Krig for kriging interpolation and
from the idea of making a different implemetation of the function for my
purposes.
Doas anyone know where can I find free C or C++ codes of kriging ?
As always, thanks a lot in advance,
Paola.

Colleagues
Thanks very much for advice. I was not aware of the Fields package
(although I've been using Geostat and Spatial). The image.plot()
function in Fields does a lovely job, with an added bonus of fixing the
problem I was having of balancing the number of colour levels with the
xlim parameters.
image.plot(time.h, z, -log10(t5),
xlab='hours', ylab='depth m',
col=...

Help with Kriging
R Experts,
I'm looking for some help with the geoR package. I'm trying to krig
some data without using a global neighborhood. I would like to set my
moving neighborhood to a distance, say 100 meters, where I know my data
is spatially correlated. I have tried the ksline function, but that
only allows my moving neighborhood to be set to a number of data points.
But, since my data

in the documentation is also that found in Pinheiro and Bates 2000
(Table 5.2, p. 232). It's not listed in the errata for the first printing

I have the second printing.
(I haven't dug out my geostats books to check this, but found at least
one paper that cites the "correct" (1/(1+(d/r)^2) formula -- see below

kriging in R
Hi, all,
Have anyone used kringing included in R? How is it?
Does it handle anisotropy data well?
How does it compare with Kriging in Arc/Info? or other geostatistics
software customized to do kriging or other geostatistics functions?
I tried Easykriging, a geostatistics tool developed for Matlab. It has
very nice GUI, but it does not provide library which i can call in my programs.
so it is good for doing it mannually for small number of data set. but if...

GIS and R
Dear All,
Does anyone know of any GIS packages for R? I know that there are
GIS facilities for S-Plus (eg Arc Info), and am looking for freeware
equivalents.
Best wishes,
