Polycom 500, won't ring??
Hi, I have was testing some of the different ring types with my polycom 500, and the ALERT_INFO settings. Now when my phone receives a call it won't ring. All the other phones ring fine, and my phone wasn't the only one I rebooted with the changed sip.conf and impd.conf. I have reverted back to a standard sip.conf and impd.conf and I still can not get my phone to ring for any incoming

Polycom Buddy Feature
Greetings, Recently there has been talk of the presence/buddy feature with asterisk and Polycom phones. I have it setup, and working as expected, however I can only get 7 buddies to appear on the screen at any given time. Has anyone gotten more than 7 buddies to appear? I'm just trying to find out if this is some polycom limitation, bug, or my error. Thanks, Matt -- Matt Gibson VOIP

SIP on Handhelds
Does anyone know if SIP will/is support on handheld PCs such as the iPaq or Axiom? With their integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth it seems like a solution to provide a wireless based sip phone for any user would be possible. Handoff between access points might be problematic but most users I know would be using their PDA phone in an airport with free wireless or at the local cafe, etc, etc... Can

Polycom IP500 vs Cisco 7940
...em pretty interesting (MWI, etc). The Cisco's on the other hand seem less straightforward to configure and not as much talk on the wiki, nor support. The price difference is quite significant and we don't want to make the wrong decision here. Could you guys help us out? Thanks, Matt @ Experthost.com

X100P Questions: Voicemail and Phone Port questions
Hello fellow * users, I've been experimenting like a madman lately with asterisk, and I just love it. Just reading this list and asking a few questions here and there has helped me out a great amount. Not to mention the excellent resource we call the Wiki. I have searched for answers to the two following questions, but couldn't find anything, it is entirely possible i was just

Nortel/Bell Canada Vista-350 ADSI
Hi Everyone, I've been in contact with a few members off list about this, and I still can't figure out what to do (aside from buying a more current ADSI compatibile screenphone). The problem is that I have a Locked Nortel Vista-350 phone and I cannot update the ADSI scripts. I have used the reset time/date trick, and then was able to partially upload the ADSI information to the

Asterisk CLI Prompt : Small hack
Just incase anyone is interested, I got tired of not having a newline command available with the cli_prompt. So me and a friend made this uber-quick hack to get it working. Flames/comments/suggestions: Matt or Matt flewid@flewid.ca sideshow@terahertz.net now you can use %n in your prompts to give a newline. A prompt example is below.

OT: Aastra 390 - weird problem
Hi All, I have a weird question regarding my Aastra 390 Analogue Phone. Yesterday, I upgraded to the latest cvs (from feb 10th to the 13th). This is when problems began. Now, I realize this probably has absolutely nothing to do with CVS, but thought I should mention anyhow. I also tried downgrading to known working version, and no avail. My problem is as follows - the phone's digits

Question about multiple hosts in hosts allow in rsyncd.conf
Hi, First off, if you are going to reply, please send a copy to my email address, as I have not subscribed to this list. I have a setup that I use for backups, and right now one of the servers that needs to back up can't seem to connect to the rsync server. I know all the possible IP's the server could use, so I added a hosts allow line (since I deny connections by default) to include

All the feature requests... A better way?
With all the different features people want - almost makes me wonder if having an actual scripting language for rsync may be the best solution? Thought of integrating Perl in with rsync so it could use Perl to calculate its include/exclude lists and/or whatever else? I just say Perl as an example - could be something or somethings better to use than Perl that I don't know about. Eli.

Rsync connection times out on very large --files-from
I've been trying to rsync a very large list of files specified by --files-from to an rsync daemon and couldn't really figure out why it wasn't working, but I think I finally understand the error. I unfortunately don't have the error to paste here for you all to see, since it takes several hours to get it (and I'm working on a workaround to rsync the files so I don't have

Using --files-from but also having rsync delete...
I am using rsync with --files-from to specify an exclusive list of files for rsync to back up to an rsync server. I give rsync the list using find to spit out a list of files that are 2 or more days old from a list of files that can change. The backup of the files works perfectly, however I realized that once the files are stored on the backup server, I have no way of informing rsync the next

PA-168(S) - Netweb IPweb-301 Phone
Greetings, I just received some netweb-301 phones frm Seshu down in NJ. I cannot for the life of me get it to register with the asterisk server, nor upgrade the firmware to the latest (1.41) i'm still using 1.37. The packets are traversing the router, going into the other subnet, hitting the asterisk box, but not actually making it to asterisk. Nothing in the asterisk logs, but tcpdump

Very weird access problems from win2k3 to samba 3.x
I've got a samba 3.0.5 (I can't get 3.0.6 or 3.0.7 to compile - I'll get to that later) server running and it *appears* to be working just fine. >From the 2k3 system in question, if I open an explorer window I can access the server via UNC just fine, no errors or anything on the Windows side. On the Samba side though, once in a while I get this in the samba.log file (and I'm

Bell Canada Caller-ID
Has anyone gotten CID from Bell Canada to work properly with *? We have our * box down at our datacentre in St Louis, and whenever we call it from a Bell Canada Telephone line, all we see is '' for the CID. I did some digging on google and the mailing lists and couldn't find anything pertaining directly to Bell-Canada and * CID, but didn't find much. I did however find :

wctdm and two tdm cards
Greetings, I have a server I'm working on here with two tdm cards in it. 4 FXS and 4FX0. Both cards work fine on their own. The problem lies with using both in the system at once. I have verified the IRQ's are fine. I have tried switching the slots the cards reside in, no luck though. I am using ACPI but not APM. I am using gentoo latest, with vanilla 2.6(.10) kernel and udev. CVS as of
