oops with btrfs on zvol
...quantal''s 3.5. What''s interesting is: - if I use ext4 (instead of btrfs) on the zvol, it works just fine - if I add a layer on top of zvol (losetup, or iscsi export-import) then btrfs works just fine. Syslog shows this (from Ubuntu''s 3.2 kernel): #===== Aug 31 20:30:13 DELL kernel: [34307.828311] zd0: unknown partition table Aug 31 20:30:34 DELL kernel: [34328.129249] device fsid cfd88ff9-def8-4d1f-9435-65becd5fa2b7 devid 1 transid 4 /dev/zd0 Aug 31 20:30:34 DELL kernel: [34328.134001] btrfs: disk space caching is enabled Aug 31 20:30:34 DELL kernel: [34328.135701] B...

CentOS and Dell Support
I'm a fairly experienced RH and Fedora user and admin looking to try CentOS for the first time. I have lots of experience with Dell servers and I'd like to stick with them. Although I'm sure it's not always strictly enforced, Dell claims that it won't provide warranty hardware support on servers installed with an un-Dell-supported OS (basically, anything other Windows, RH, and Suse). Are other CentOS admins suc...

Has anyone used a Dell with a PERC H310?
Hello Sa?o! I found you here: http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/zfs-discuss/2012-May/051546.html "How about reflashing LSI firmware to the card? I read on Dell''s spec sheets that the card runs an LSISAS2008 chip, so chances are that standard LSI firmware will work on it. I can send you all the required bits to do the reflash, if you like." I got Dell Perc H310 controller for do-it-yourself experiments, I tried to run it on non-Dell PC platf...

ZFS + Dell MD1200's - MD3200 necessary?
We are looking at building a storage platform based on Dell HW + ZFS (likely Nexenta). Going Dell because they can provide solid HW support globally. Are any of you using the MD1200 JBOD with head units *without* an MD3200 in front? We are being told that the MD1200''s won''t "daisy chain" unless the MD3200 is involved. We woul...

DELL E6510 pxelinux issues
Hello, I have a problem with our DELL E6510 notebooks (BIOS version A05): 1. After the update from syslinux-3.71 to 4.02 LOCALBOOT no longer works. I've read <http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/Hardware_Compatibility#LOCALBOOT_on_Dell_Latitude_E6400> and neither version works. The behavior differs between the laptop rebo...

RHEL Subscriptions
Hello List Members. I was recently approached by Dell stating that I HAVE TO renew my Red Hat Subscriptions. I challenged this statement and was informed that this has always been the case and that all servers I have bought off of Dell over the years need to have current subscription! I've been searching the Red Hat website to find where this...

Dell unofficial community repository - what do you think?
Hi all. I am currently gathering information about firmware update on Dell PowerEdge machines. I've found http://linux.dell.com/wiki/index.php/Firmware-tools_announcement and https://linux.dell.com/repo/community/ It is an unofficial, community supported repository. What are your experiences: should I perform firmware updates the traditional way by downloading *.bin...

XCP vs Xen on CentOS and Dell OpenManage
...mes with "xe" while the Xen Hypervisor comes with "xm"? 2) I noticed "xe" has a lot of features, for example: "snapshots". Does it means "xe" goes beyond simply managing Xen and also acts as a frontend for LVM? 3) Did anyone managed to install Dell''s OpenManage on XCP -- Dell has RPM packages for RHEL5 and a yum repository, so I''m assuming it should work, but I would like to hear from someone who was at least tried to get it installed. Best regards, Eduardo Bragatto _______________________________________________ Xen...
