Icecast, Liveice... experiences?
...rfect I
think! Small footprint, I can line them up with a network switch in the
corner of my bedroom and serve content.
But now it is making IceCast unstable. I first hit problems when
decreasing the bitrate to 16000 and the sample rate to 11025. I tried to
move things back up, but it seems to be completley unstable and a mess.
Does anyone have suggestions? By leaving LAME and trying to go with L3ENC
or whatever the current version is -- will that improve stability? Anyone
have any tips? I really don't want to go the Windows route -- but I don't
want to babysit the stuff either. LiveIce seem...

...lo cursor) This is not a huge problem but it does get in the way and really bothersome. Also occasionally (after about 15-20 minutes of gameplay) the screen goes all crazy and I'm forced to shut the computer down because it will not recover, this is a huge problem.
Also, Im running Diablo from completley legal isos i have created (stored on external harddrive) so I do not need the CDs is this the problem maybe... I never tried using the real cds.
I DO NOT want to use D2Loader for 2 reasons.. A.) the mpq files take too much space on my Internal Hard Drive and B.) Want to use Battle.net All the thing...

ls and getfacl hanging with nt authentication
I have Samba 3.0.2a running on Solaris 8 compiled with winbind and
authenticating against an NT domain.
every time I run a "ls -l" or "getfacl" the command line hangs as it's
tries to pull down all the user/group details from the domain.
I heard this may have something to do with nscd (nameservice cache
daemon?) which is running on the solaris machine.
Any thoughts

setfacl fails for some user names and not others
...ever, when I put the domain part into uppercase the command
worked - i.e.
> setfacl -m u:REMOTE-DOM+jbloggs:r-x .
I then tried a few more - some failed, and some worked.
Looking at the output from 'getent passwd', some usernames on the remote
domain were completely lowercase, others completley uppercase and others
mixed case (mostly along the lines of 'JBloggs' or 'WebMaster' etc)
I tried various names (long/short, upper/lower/mixed-case) but could not
see why some names failed and others worked.
I then tried
> wbinfo -n REMOTE-DOM+jbloggs
which returned the corre...

ov_clear Crash
Hi All,
Im having troubles with ov_clear crashing or just failing to close properly.
Is there anything else i should make sure im doing before i call ov_clear.
My code basically consists of one ogg file running completley in its own
thread where it decodes into direct sound buffers. I only run 2 threads at
anyone time, and ive also noticed its only the threads that use ogg files
with multiple logical streams that seem to fail or crash the ov_clear.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I know this may not be a very...

SSH hang fix??
It is nice to see that the development of openssh suddenly seems
to have a boost of activity. However I am fairly dissapointed to
see that nobody is actually trying to fix the ssh hanging problem
which I am mainly seeing on Solaris and AIX in conjunction with rsync.
Has anybody from the development team got an ETA of the official
fix for this problem?

DF for GAM function (mgcv package)
For summary(GAM) in the mgcv package smooth the degrees of freedom for
the F value for test of smooth terms are the rank of covariance matrix
of \hat{beta} and the residuals df. I've noticed that in a lot of GAMs
I've fit the rank of the covariance turns out to be 9. In Simon Wood's
book, the rank of covariance matrix is usually either 9 or 99 (pages
239-230 and 259).

[Very Strange] Windows Networking suddendly stopped working
...un begins ....
We thought first of a network problem and to isolate this we directly connected
1 PC via a crosslink
cable to the Samba Server, giving the PC a static IP address. (Normally we use
DHCP). Even
now the error message was the same, more strangely, if you pulled out the
network cable completley
the Computer and all Services started normally. Pluggin the cable back in, the
same problems arose.
Unfortunatley enough is, that sometimes it works *with* the network cable
plugged in
but then a minute later it doesn't.
So in the next step we replaced the NIC of the Server with a new one,...

Broken Header uidvalidity problem after upgrade
Hi, we use a current Debian etch distribution as basis for our servers,
which are running within a vmware server environment. Our current
configuration consists of a dovecot server with imap enabled and a ldap
based authentication. Mails are stored using the Maildir format on a
central nfs store. We do not use any virtual mailboxes.
Since upgrading from dovecot version 1.0.rc15 (debian

IPSEC VPN to VPN firewalling problem
Dear Shorewall Users :-)
I''ve been playing with shorewall for some time now - I found it really
interesting and easy tool to organise all the rules and so on (beforethat
I''ve been using simple iptables rules in shell script ;-)
Generally it''s quite easy to be used, but anyway found one problem which I
cannot handle myself - or in other words - cannot find appropriate
