Oh, answers my question. Actually Electric Fence is as easy as
-lefence in the link line. There are three possible environment
variables to set to change the exact nature of the testing; run with
one of EF_PROTECT_ABOVE, EF_PROTECT_BELOW or EF_PROTECT_FREE set to 1.

Coercing character to factor
I just downloaded version 1.0.0 and several binary libraries (VR, rpart,
norm, stataread) - WinNT version. I then converted a file from Stata 6.0
to R format by using the stataread library. The file converts perfectly
and I was able to use the VR function lda on the dataframe without
difficulty. I then tried to use the same dataframe with RPART. The model

Designing a Raspberry Pi "UPS"
Hey folks,
I'm designing a power management card for a Raspberry Pi, for an embedded application. Basically, here's the bits and pieces that would be on the card:
- A 12V SLA battery charger, which can be powered from a wall wart or solar panel.
- A pair of 12V->5V switching regulators, one powering the Pi and the other powering a built-in 4-port USB hub.

Whatever people get all hussy about, the media reports, even if its levied unevenly.
And boy to some Linux people seem to get all so political and "anti" all the time.

Please point me to the non-GPL compatible (let alone just non-GPL) software Red Hat develops!
Stallman was brilliant, because after AT&T was broken up and could now sell UNIX,
he _knew_ companies can change overnight.
When Red Hat kills its GPL focus, then you will hear...

gsub syntax
Hello
I know that R's string functions are not as extensive as those of Unix but
I need to do some text handling totally within an R environment because
the target is a Windows system which will not have the corresponding shell
utilities, sed, awk etc.
Can anyone explain the following gsub phenomenon to me:
