Verification on HOW adding a machines works
...a machine on the domain.
I'm using the smbldap-tools as suggested in the wiki. Here's the script:
add machine script = /usr/sbin/smbldap-useradd -w -g 100 -c "Workstation
(%u)" -d /dev/null -s /sbin/nologin "%u"
When checking on details of the process:
# getent passwd
biggie$:x:1008:100:Workstation (biggie$):/nohome:/sbin/nologin
(works for me)
# getent group | grep users
users:x:100:
(the machine is not listed as a member of the group)
Should machines be displayed as a member of the group they are added to
like users?

dotnet20 on ubuntu 8.10

Specifically, I cannot get dotnet11 or dotnet20 to work (via winetricks).
Any hints? I've tried various walk-throughs and read posts by the dozens, all without success.
This is what it states:

Wine and Baldur's Gate
Well,
Now that I've made it through the actual install, I figured I'ld take
Baldur's Gate for a spin. The main screeen, where you select to play the
game, change the configuration, etc, comes up fine. There's a slight pause
after clicking 'Play' while BGMain.exe starts and X is set yo 640x480 (I'm
guessing this has something to do with DETACH_PROCESS?), but

Automatically dial a number, then an extension
All;
I have an application that dials a list of numbers and then plays a
recorded message. My customer uses it to dial a list of customers to confirm
their appointment for the next day. No biggie, maybe 25 - 30 calls per day
for customers who want the confirmation call. What they need now is a way to
dial an extension after the number is dialed and answered. I've seen that
before, but I just can't remember where. I was wondering if anyone else has
implemented something along these...

Virtualisation
I'm building a new server at home to handle most of my internal
requirements (mail, news, dns, dhcp, backups being the biggies). I also
want it to host a couple of virtual servers which are allowed incoming
connections from the internet (mail gateway, web server, ssh server);
these are virtual so if a hacker _can_ break in then they're limited as
to what they can see.
At present the virtual machines are vserver ins...

MixMonitor and Queues
...we are for placing them
on hold ;) )
On a semi-related note, is it possible to determine the extension that
pull the call out of queue before the call is bridged? The reason I ask
is that I'd like to put the receiving extension in the name of the file
that MixMonitor creates. If not, no biggie.
Recap:
Two queues. First rings for 15 seconds then drops into the second.
Second plays music on hold till the call is answered. I want to record
the call when it's pulled out of either queue using MixMonitor. Bonus
points if I can determine the answering extension before MixMonitor

Who's wrong, atmail or dovecot?
We recently switched to atmail, as well as dovecot. I noticed in atmail
the size of the mailboxes was always reported as 0kb.
So, I did some debugging, and it boiled down to the fact that the regular
expression used by dovecot expected UID before SIZE, but Dovecot returned
SIZE before UID. No biggy, I changed the regex, but I was curious if there
was a standard.
Here's the imap query

wxruby2 swig retooling "complete"
I just re-integrated fixdeleting.rb, the last of the post-processors.
Running minimal.rb no longer segfaults on exit. Running dialogs.rb and
immediately exiting doesn''t segfault, but bringing up a dialog and then
exiting does.
So there are still memory problems, but fewer than yesterday :-/ I''m not
sure how it compares to last week.
I probably won''t have much time

I wouldn't do this, I would give the DC a fixed ipaddress.

Maintaining table quota2
...I have been spending effort today reading up on this and searching on a
couple questions.
For my additions to 20-imap.conf I have:
imap_client_workarounds = delay-newmail
protocol imap {
??? mail_plugins = quota imap_quota trash
}
I see that the mail_plugin quota is moved to 10-mail.conf.? No biggie
there.? But what about trash?
And I tried to find documentation on imap_client_workarounds and all I
have found is in:
https://wiki.dovecot.org/QuickConfiguration#Client_Workarounds

more newbie questions -- init 5 works, init 3 doesn't for "normal" users
...s is that my old /home
partition/direction is supposedly associated WITH current users I setup
and yet...NOT! The system does not recognize this association even
though it asked me about setting it up when I created my first real user
on installation. I had to go in and reset uids but that's no biggie and
this process has worked fine before. I can't help but think this is
related to the startx issue.

R binaries for Fedora 17.
...ilable from
CRAN is 3.0.1.
I just wanted to check that I am not doing something stupid (like maybe
using an incorrect repository).
I presume that the latest version of R is available as a binary only for
the last version (or last few versions) of Fedora.
Can anyone confirm my presumption?
No biggie. I can build from source, and indeed have done so. But
downloading a binary is quicker and I'd just like to get straight what
the true state of play is.

[PATCH v2 3/3] device-dax: Add system ram (add_memory()) with MHP_NO_FIRMWARE_MEMMAP
...urce_size(new_res),
> + MHP_NO_FIRMWARE_MEMMAP);
Looks fine. But, if you send another revision, could you add a comment
about the actual goal of MHP_NO_FIRMWARE_MEMMAP? Maybe:
/*
* MHP_NO_FIRMWARE_MEMMAP ensures that future
* kexec'd kernels will not treat this as RAM.
*/
Not a biggie, though.
