Cyberpower CP850PFCLCD 120% battery charge
Hello all,
I have a CyberPower Systems CP850PFCLCD that I'm hooking up to NUT 2.4.3
from apt running under Ubuntu 10.04. Using the usbhid-ups driver, things
*seem* to work at first glance, but there are some odd issues. The most
notable issue is that the battery.charge indicator reads 120 when at full
charge. I came across this post here:

Battery condition tools CentOS/Dell
Hello all:
Does anyone know of a tool/project that will allow me to read the
battery condition (not the charge status) on a Dell laptop battery?
Under XP there is a utility that warns that the battery is still
holding a charge but that the battery is degraded and should be
replaced.
Also, not sure if this is possible, but I would like to control how
the laptop charges the battery. I tend to

Logic problem in NUT with upscode2 driver
Hi All,
I have what is probably a 12 year old (or older) Compaq R3000 UPS
plugged into a FreeBSD 8 system running NUT version 2.6.5
This UPS contains a total of 16 batteries in 2 banks of 8,
each battery is 6 volts and the bank produces 50 volts.
The UPS monitors battery voltage and the battery charger in
the UPS works like this. For about 2 days it will apply a
charge/float/topping voltage of 55.2 volts to the batteries.
During that time the battery voltage mea...

Is it possible that battery.charge is really 30% rather than 3%?
The 3016 protocol models have issues with scaling on some of the voltages and frequencies. You can see

"battery is low" logged
I got around to unplugging my UPS and I found it doesn't last nearly as
long as estimated.
Is the "upsmon[1446]: UPS desktop_ups at localhost battery is low" logged
when "battery.runtime:" = "battery.runtime.low: 120"?
Does any make better batteries that don't go down faster when they get old?

We're talking about lead/acid batteries here? A lead battery not reaching its rated nominal after charge is usually considered to be broken,
ask Your car garage mechanic ;-)
And now it's after "some (EU warranty) time" for my batteries:
battery.capacity.nominal: 17.00

This may be a really stupid question, but can a gel type marine battery be used in a UPS?

[OT] how do I remove a battery
I've got an MSI K9N Platinum MS 7250 VER 1.1
motherboard with a dead battery.
The battery mounts vertically:
http://www.cs.ndsu.nodak.edu/~hennebry/computer/battery.png
To me, the tab on the right would seem to need moving.
It does not want to move.
I am reluctant to apply any more force than I
already have without knowing how to apply it.
How do I remove the battery?

APC SMART-UPS 1500 always reporting LB
Using nut v2.2.2, and the APC serial cable.
I have a client who's APC SMART-UPS 1500 (circa 2000) is always reporting LB. The batteries were old so they were replaced two weeks ago with brand new batteries. UPS still reported low batteries...
I ran a calibration and a test on the unit (using the nut upscmd utility)
During those tests, the battery charge on the unit goes to zero and slowly starts making its way back up 100%. The...

Krauler UP-D1200VA
Hello. I have this UPS:
Krauler UP-D1200VA
Megatec USB protocol
Vendor ID: 0x0001, Device ID: 0x0000
#KRAULER UP-D1200VA VER6.00
#220.0 004 23.50 50.0
Currently I have nut 2.2.0 installed from sources. Installation was
successful except that I had to change a string in 52-nut-usbups.rules from:

Megatec and Batteries
...saw that there is a lot of people confused about battery voltage and I want to help them to clear out some stuff in their heads.
This story is based on my experience with UPS devices from 600VA to 20kVA, from single phase systems to three phase systems, with battery packs from 1 battery to 62 batteries in both technologies interactive (aka stand-by) and on-line (aka double-conversion) but all of them were "speaking" megatec. Anyway this does not necessarily relater only to megatec enabled UPSs this is story for all UPSs and their batteries.
On one hand we have UPS manufactures whi...
