ASTRO (logy) under wine - understanding the debug output?
Hello Wine Users,
I have setup wine in fedora 10 x86_64. I installed speaker workshop and it works fine. This encouraged me to install my old astrology software (ASTRO, by the late Peter Treadgold). The program was released in 1996 and updated in 2000. It calculates birth and death charts and displays them on screen. When I get to the point to have the chart displayed, the chart may or may not appear. Anyway, the program is locked, whether it disp...

I'm sure there is a nicer solution, but it is immediately apparent to me. The
gcc version which puked is 2.95.4 as in Debian testing.

Male and female signs as subscript in plot
Hello,
I'd like to add labels to my plot that include a male or female symbol as
subscript.
I'm working in Windows Vista and R 3.0.0.
I am able to add the male symbol to the plot as regular text (NOT as
subscript), e.g. with:
mtext("Male\u2642")
This displays the word "Male" followed by the male symbol on the plot.
But "\u2642" does not work when I try to

test for bimodality
Dear R users,
I'm looking for a test of bimodality in order to make some decisions about how to procede with an analysis algorithm. I have not come across any such tests in my readings and discussions apart from the Rao which appears to be applicable to cyclic data.
The data I'm interested in characterizing as uni- or bimodal are frequency x amplitude spectra of consonant speech sounds,

Thanks Wine tea
...install, but it works! I can now use Britannica, the OED and the
archives of Time magazine on Windows CDs. I'm working on getting Pegasus
to find my data folders (any tips?) and Agent works fine. It did
everything I wanted it to do except run CorelDraw4 (it can't decipher its
fonts) and any astrology program for the same reason.
Nothing is perfect. But you're getting there. I even got a polite and
informative response when I asked about a dumbass newbie mistake I made in
reading the FAQ too hastily.
Good work. Thanks.

This has happened with every release of R I've tried; the latest is
R-base-1.2.1-2. BTW, if it matters, the display is set to 800x600, 8-bit

Hello all,
I work for a company located in Madison, WI and we''re looking at
replacing a pre-Struts J2EE ecommerce app with Rails. ''ve been

...p the change in size. Since this size change is at the host filesystem level, a file larger than the remaining space on the original drive can be written as lvm will simply span the physical volumes. Gluster would choke and not span bricks.
