Does wine asio still work with the current version of WINE? I tried installing it per the instructions and it didn't want to make.

As a professional audio mastering engineer I am anxious to run professional PC audio software under WINE in Ubuntu Mint. Particularly SADiE 6, Adobe Audition 3, Reaper and similar. They all use ASIO driver interfaces with sound cards. The sound card I'm using is LYNX 16e http://www.lynxstudio.com/product_detail.asp?i=16 What is the state of development of ASIO drivers under WINE. BTW I think WINE 1.3 is excellent. Thanks to all developers in this respect., looking forward to 1.3.4!

I actually had an audio app running in wine "see" the wine-asio "driver". Now, how do I couple this goodie with a physical device, alsa port or jack client?? The app could "not start audio engine". No inputs or outpus were available to its dialogs choices.

A working (alpha level) module is around. This seems to need at least a partial compile from source to patch it in. Any other way? Could this be posted to Debian (as contrib) as a libwine-asio or such and be activated the same way libwine-jack is, by simply installing the package? (Also, compilation requires headers and such from Steinberg, non-free and these cannot be included in a source package.)

I originally had two sound cards, which had some synchronization problems (now solved, more or less), but I have also discovered a much better solution using ASIO 2.0, which enables me to sample multiple sources on the same soundcard. ...checked the MIDI options for the Kontakt program and it DOES show the Akai keyboard - so the program knows the keyboard exists. I've got it set so that device "Midi 1" is set to "Port A". I've also tried setting to ports b,c,d, but no luck. I don't have jack or ASIO running yet as I want to troubleshoot one thing at a time.
