isolinux issue with AOpen DVD writer
I'm having a problem booting Slackware 10.1 boot CD's as well as an
isolinux image of my own. The system is a VIA Epia M10000 and the drive
is an AOpen ISU-8424E CD/DVD writer. If I use a Toshiba CD-RW/DVD-ROM
Drive SD-R2612 in place of the AOpen DVD writer, the cd boots fine and
everything works as expected.
What's the best course for further debugging of this problem? The only
thing I notice is the number of sectors shown in debugging out...

Mini-PC box to run server
On the cheap side, the ITX or even MicroATX machines work great. These
are commodity items, so they tend to be far less expensive than custom
solutions. Various manufacturers, but we've had very good success with
any of the AOpen MicroATX boards and their slimline MicroATX case:

Voice Modem Support?
I'm still playing with * at the moment. Just trying to figure out how much it
can do.
Anyway, it looks like * supports voice modems. So here come the obvious
questions...
How well does * support vmodems?
How do I set * to use my vmodem for incoming calls?
Has anyone gotten it to work?
Thanx,
Mike Diehl.

newbie - simple dialout server
...lout server based on Asterisk.
I installed 0.4.0 from package (a Debian SID machine, "server").
The client is gnophone (a Debian SID machine too, "client").
My modem is a GVC 56k voice modem connected to the server's serial port.
I modified modem.conf by enabling "type=aopen", because modem can't be
autodetected. I've also added "device => /dev/ttyS2".
The modem seems to be initialised.
I am not sure what to do with "stripmsd=1"...
extension.conf:
I've added "exten => 5957,Dial,Zap/1" to "[local]".

Modem channel in Asterisk
Hi,
I have installed an USB modem and test it using the strings from the
included Aopen modem (Rockwell based), modified the modem.conf file and then
Asterisk load them without errors.
What is the syntax to be used with a modem as a FXO device when dialing?
I have tried:
exten => .[246]XXXXXX,Dial(Modem/${EXTEN},20) but it doesn't work.
What else must be done?
Thanks,
Dan

...server. Or perhaps there is way to make it
behave like a kind of an FXS interface (to anything).
I am just curious whether I could play around (in strict sense) with the
card and see how asterisk can handle it...
I have no single telefony hardware but my phone line, a telephone set
and an ISA AOpen analog modem card (with RCVDL56ACF/SP chip on it;
someone claimed 'tis the only modem working with modem channel driver
under asterisk).
Thanks for any answers.

I think this text should reflect that it also supports the
VT86C105/VT86C105M ``Rhine III'' since it does that and it also says so
in the hardware notes on the www.freebsd.org website.
I got rather confused when i first read the hardware notes and saw that

Bug: ext3 patch prevents power-down in 2.4.x kernels
...OSTs, I can turn it off with the power switch.
I have tried this with the following kernels: 2.4.8 and 2.4.9 from debian
unstable, and 2.4.7, 2.4.8, and 2.4.9 from kernel.org. Simply applying the
patch causes this problem. It does not matter whether I actually turn ext3
support on.
I have an AOpen AX6BC motherboard with a PII-350 processor.
If there is any other information I can supply, please let me know. I am
not subscribed to the list, so please send replies to me directly.
Thanks,

Asterisk stops responding
Anyone have any thoughts on why versions of asterisk I try (4 so far)
after CVS-07/18/03 always end up locking up on me... which means no sip
clients can register/re-register and if I type "reload" or "stop now" at
the cli it just returns and does nothing.
I have experienced this same issue on three separate boxes. Two running
RedHat 9 and one running Redhat 8.
