PoE VOIP phones in Australia
...BT-10[12], which is cheap
but not featureful enough, and the Snom 190, which is about right, but
neither of them support PoE. I'm particularly intereseted in the Snom 220
with the keypad expansion for our receptionist.
Although, could you make a PoE split-out cable for the Snom 190?

zfs send and recordsize
Hi Everyone,
I perform a snapshot and a zfs send on a filesystem with a recordsize
of 16k, and redirect the output to a plain file. Later, I use cat
sentfs | zfs receive otherpool/filesystem. In this case the new
filesystem''s recordsize will be the default 128k again. The other
filesystem attributes (for example atime) are reverted to defaults
too. Okay, I can set these later,

polycom repair
Hi all,
Has anyone had any experience getting Polycom phones repaired? The screen on
one of our IP600s got smashed, and I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to
get it repaired, or if it'd just be cheaper to buy a new phone.
Thanks,

polycom custom ring tones (slightly OT)
....pat.ringer.13.inst.2.param="600"
se.pat.ringer.13.inst.3.type="branch" se.pat.ringer.13.inst.3.value="-2"/>
Alternatively, since you can use .wav files for ring tones, do people have
any recommendations for where to find some distinctive rings?
Thanks,

Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8
Bouncing a thread from the device drivers list:
http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=357176
Does anybody know if OpenSolaris will support this new Supermicro card,
based on the Marvell 88SE6480 chipset? It''s a true PCI Express 8 port JBOD
SAS/SATA controller with pricing apparently around $125.
If it works with OpenSolaris it sounds pretty much perfect.

Polycom IP 600 DHCP problem
...DHCPOFFER, it DHCPREQUESTs and a DCHPACK is returned, but 3
seconds later it repeats the process and never boots. The phone works fine
with a static IP, and the DCHP setup works ok for an IP 500. I updated to
bootrom 2.6.2 and sip firmware 1.5.2 which didn't help. Any suggestions?

CallerID in Australia & Analogue PSTN Phone System
Is there anyone using * in AU that has successfully extracted the CLID
from an incoming analogue PSTN phone call, and would like to spread the
word?
Note - I am only interested in analogue, not ISDN phones.

Polycom SIP 1.6.5 reloading
...ges it just reloads instead of doing
a full reboot. Does anyone know how to make it reload the config from the
ftp server? The menus only offer a full restart, but I'm guessing there's a
key combo I can to force a reload. Additionally, does anyone have the Admin
Manual for 1.6.5?

Dialing from "Placed Calls" on Polycom IP501 doesn't always work
Greetings,
Has anyone noticed that attempting to place a call from the "Placed
Calls" list on a Polycom IP501 by pressing the 'Dial' softkey sometimes
simply returns the phone to the idle screen? It is not related to the
number being dialed, as we have observed two entries for the same
number, one of which worked and the other didn't.
We've experimented with calls

Anyway, does anyone have a verified working example of ldapsam: with two

those edge-case, "should work" minor features that just escapes testing?

Upsonic PrOffice 650 usb/serial
Hi,
I recently installed a Upsonic PrOffice 650 UPS, which is a cheap model[1]
available in Australia. It has a serial and USB port, and comes with a
note saying WinPower software can be downloaded from [2]. Investigation of
the software shows it to be Java with native libraries for serial and USB.
Disassembling various classes reveals it talks at 2400 baud, and has a
protocol similar to

? Removing a disk from a ZFS Storage Pool
Hi
my understanding is that you cannot remove a disk from a ZFS storage
pool once you have added it...but I also think I saw an email from Jeff
B saying that the ability to depopulate a disk so that it can be
removed is being worked on....or was I dreaming ?
What is the status of this ?
Thanks

caller id ring tones for Asterisk Phone
I'm going to be rolling out asterisk at a small office and one requested
feature was the ability to have a phone that can be configured so that
ringtones can be configured according to the callerid of the caller.
Does anyone have Asterisk experience with such a phone? Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!

Polycom IP 501 phone randomly resets itself (loses Received call log, Missed calls, placed calls)
I've been noticing that my group of Polycom IP 501 phones seems to
randomly reset themselves nearly every night (I guess it usually
happens at night, since I've never seen it happen while I've been at
work during the day)..
When I say "reset", I mean, the hands free volume and ring volume are
set to the default and the call logs (received calls, missed calls,
placed calls)

zfs inotify?
OK, so this may be a little off-topic, but here goes:
The reason I switched to OpenSolaris was primarily to take advantage of ZFS''s
features when storing my digital imaging collection.
I switched from a pretty stock Linux setup, but it left me at one
disadvantage. I had been using inotify under Linux to trigger a series of Ruby
scripts that would do all the basic ingestion/setup for
