Aastra Questions
Hi,
Does anyone have experience with Asterisk and the aastra 9112i or
9133i phones? I am looking at purchasing some, and was curious how
quality, and stability was with them.

MoH with an Aastra 9112i
Hello,
I have some Aastra 9112i's in production that almost function
flawlessly. The problem I'm having is when a caller is put on hold they
do not hear hold music. If they are on hold for too long (~ a minute?)
they are hung up on.
All other phones including Aastra 480i and Sipura/Linksys ATAs all seem
to be worki...

Aastra 9112i or 9133i Ring Tones
I've been looking at the two phones Aastra 9112i and 9133i for our offices
now. I was just curious if anyone could tell me about the ring tones.
Specifically:
1) How many ring tones do they come with?
2) Can you upload your own ring tones?
3) If so, what format and how?
(wav, mp3, gsm, etc. and TFTP, web management, flash, etc.)

Good comparisons on cheaper VOIP phones
...6TP 24 port switches, or maybe the equivalent Linksys SRW224MP 24 port
switch. About 4 of these will run the phones and computers on the network
connecting back to a gigabit switch handling the phone and other servers.
On the phone side VOIP phones
The price range sort of limits me to:
* Aastra 9112i
* Snom 300
* Polycom 320
* Cisco CP-7906G (But I believe this won't handle SIP out of the box?)
Any good bad stories of the above?
One thing I like about the Aastra is being able to go POE from a switch, to
the Aastra, then out of the second port on the Aastra and into the PC.

Redone setup, bizare problems
...work A <-> wrv200 <-> internet <-> wrv200 <-> net b
The 2 networks are linked with an ipsec vpn. The 2 internet connections are
with the same cable company to minimize latency, both separates /24 subnets.
On network A, I got 2 computers, a single sip phone (aastra 9112i). On
network B, I got a linux box acting as smb domain controler and many other
thins, another linux box that only do an asterisk server, 4 computers, 3 sip
phones (2 aastra 9112i and one 480i ct), 1 analog ATA for the alarm system,
an internet point of sale terminal, that's about it.

SIP hardphones with xml/html/xhtml/microbrowser support?
What hardphones support xml/html/xhmtl/microbrowser? I need an inexpensive
SIP hardphone that can run simple applications (queue status, etc).
The phones I know of:
Aastra 480i, 9112i, 9133i
(though limited by 3 LCD lines on the 91xx seems kind of silly)
Cisco 79xx
Mitel 5235
Polycom IP601
Any others?

Losing local SIP phones when internet goes down?
...nge behaviour on Asterisk 1.4 running on Debian
Stable (Lenny). I suspect it's something to do with my setup, rather than
a bug, but I'm struggling to see it, and would appreciate any input.
Setup: PC with two ethernet cards: eth0 goes to local network, including
two SIP phones (Aastra 9112i, wired, and Nokia E75, over WIFI); eth1 goes
to router and thence to the internet over ADSL. PC also has one Zap
channel.
the SIP phones use DHCP but have defined IP addresses (DHCP server running
on the PC). The PC is also running a firewall (FIAIF), but not a DNS
server.

cisco 7940 and auto-answer (aastra 480i vs 7940)
Having scoured the web, I still am no better off ..
I have 2 Aastra480i's , and 120+ cisco 7940's :) . I am trying to decide
which model to use going forward when we purchase more kit. They both
seem much on a par regarding features.
Q1: Is there anyway of making the cisco auto-answer _without_ having to
manually edit the configuration on each phone ? I've been able to get

Aastra phone crashes with Asterisk 1.6
...and
after some testing there seems to be a compatibility problem when using
Aastra phones. With 1.6.0.5 all incoming calls to all Aastra phones
were dropped after a minute or so. I installed 1.6.1-rc1 and now the
newer Aastra phones (5xi) work properly. The problem remains with the
older phones (9112i, 9133i and 480i). If I dial any of those phones the
call will drop after a minute or so and the phone will crash. After a
reboot the phone is back up. If you dial from the phone you can talk as
long as you want, only inbound calls have the problem.
I have the latest firmware for all phones....

Problem with Aastra 480ci and qualify=yes
Hi,
We have a few Aastra 480ci phones and we've noticed that in order to
get the phone to receive a call, qualify must be = no.
Apparently the Aastras do not respond to the qualify message (or
respond in a way Asterisk doesn't understand) and Asterisk thinks the
phone is unreachable.
However, this now prevents MWI from working properly on the phones.
Does anyone know how to get MWI

MWI and 1.6.1
We are having an issue with Asterisk 1.6.1 and the MWI turning on when a
user doesn't have voicemail. We see random MWI lights come on and the phone
indicates a random number of messages (its been anywhere from 1-14) when a
server reload is done.
I just checked one user, they have no messages old or new and the phone
(Polycom IP330) indicates that they have 2 messages. The user will check for

Dear Friends,
We have implemented "Asterisk" in our organization. There are 150 members in our organization. At present all are using softphones. Now, I want to buy hardphones for our staff. Can anybody suggest me that what is the best hardphone for Asterisk with low-cost?
Thank you.

Chandra.
