Hardware Specifications
Does anyone know where i can find out how powerful a machine has to be to
handle a certain amount of call volume?
Eg, 2Ghz is enough processing power to maintain 100 calls at a time.
4Ghz is engouh to process 250 calls etc etc.
Thanks
Dan

Wine not fluid in all games
Hi. I had a performance issue with wine and all games. It's wine 1.1.18 FC10 X86_64bits with a Quad Xeon @4ghz and a Geforce 8800GTS512.
I had a good frame frame... CSS and TF2 @ 70-100 fps and guildwars around the same... But this is very unstable... And when i walk in the game i had some micro freezes... The game can't be fluid. Same in TF2 /CSS/ Guildwars.
For guildwars i've already tested regi...

Question about Steam.
I am running wine1.3, installed from the winehq repo on ubuntu 10.10. I installed steam through winetricks, nothing else. After this i told steam to start installing civ V. And for some time it just downloader with 1.4mb/sec. then suddenly everything stopped... and all i could squeeze out of my connection was 150kb/sek.
Is there anything in wine1.3, or perhaps steam running under wine1.3 that

Speed up code with for() loop
...05^2))*sqrt(2*pi/(0.05^2))*(1-pnorm(0,((-estimate)/(0.05^2)),sqrt(1/(0.05^2))))))-1))
D<-100000
Delta_ln<-rep(0,D)
for(i in 1:D)
Delta_ln[i]<-(log(mean(sample(DCF_korrigiert,1000000,replace=TRUE))/(1/0.10)))
The calculation of the for-loop takes several hours even on a very quick
machine (4GHz, 8 GB RAM Windows 2008 Server 64bit). Has anybody an idea, how
to improve the for-line?
Thanks for helping me.
Hans

Current best AMD processor for running mainstream games?
Hi all,
I want to buy a processor that will be good for gaming in Wine in FreeBSD. I see that many game engines are starting to take advantage of multi-core systems, however it appears that multi-threaded applications are not distributed properly across multiple cores (Ex: Starcraft II - http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20882 ). So I'm not sure if I should aim

Thanks! I only have the one rough data point based on PR32037, but caching
does good things for compile-time on that example.
Trunk r298514 compiled release on macOS running on Haswell 4GHz:
$ time ./opt -O2 row_common.bc -S -o /dev/null
user 0m0.302s
user 0m0.300s
user 0m0.296s
user 0m0.299s
user 0m0.296s
With your patch applied:
user 0m0.264s
user 0m0.269s
user 0m0.269s
user 0m0.268s
user 0m0.268s
So the time for all of -O2 has dropped to 89.6% of...

Running Hitec HPP-22 under wine. (RC device, USB)
I use the Hitec Aurora 9 (A9) transmitter for my remote control
vehicles.
http://www.hitecrcd.com/products/aircraft-radios-receivers-and-accesories/aircraft/aurora9/aurora-9-2-4ghz.html
This transmitter is part of a system of devices. One of the devices in
this system is the HPP-22, which is a USB device that allows a computer
to communicate with the A9 in order to load and save model information
as well as update the firmware in the transmitter and receivers.

ZFS RaidZ recommendation
I have been searching this forum and just about every ZFS document i can find trying to find the answer to my questions. But i believe the answer i am looking for is not going to be documented and is probably best learned from experience.
This is my first time playing around with open solaris and ZFS. I am in the midst of replacing my home based filed server. This server hosts all of my media
