Kernel Crashing
Hi, I''ve just attempted several times to install Fedora Linux domU''s on a Fedora 6 [32-bit xen kernel 2.6.20-1.2944], and it keeps crashing at various points when trying to format domU''s virtual disk. I''ve tried allocating 1 vcpu and 2 vcpus, and it still keeps crashing dom0. The machine has a total of two hyperthreaded 3.2ghz Xeon cpus, and 3GB of RAM.

Speed of runif() on different Operating Systems
Dear list, I have noticed surprisingly big performance differences of runif() between Windows XP and (Debian) linux on similar CPUs (Pentium D 3.0GHz (WinXP)/3.2GHz (Linux)) and I wonder if there is a simple explanation for the difference. On a linux system (with a slightly better CPU and 1GB more RAM), execution of runif() seems to consume about 80% more CPU time than on a Windows XP

requesting real world meetme capacity numbers
Hi All, I'm very interested in real world experience of double digit number of users sustaining good quality audio in a single meetme conference. Personally, I have seen 23 users in one conf room, all coming in SIP, ULAW. Server is 3.2GHz proc, 1Gig RAM, 1-2 % proc utilization under 23 user load, perfect audio. I'm working on a conf bridge for 150+ users, could use some advice, if

can someone overthere help? the server specs are as follows HP DL380G4 Dual Intel Xeon 3.2GHz processor with 4GB RAM, running fedora core 3 asterisk-1.2.5 ss7-0.8.3d. using sip as advised to receive calls from another gateway in US. using g729 in transcoding way. however, I noticed the call hit the 51 active calls which is 102channels, I run "top" to check the system resources usage

speex optimisation for ARM 5TE architecture
Hi JM, I am using narrowband mode with speex qaulity set to 0 and complexity set to 4. The code works fine on the 3.2GHz processor. The test program speexenc takes 7ms to encode 5sec worth of voice on the 3.2Ghz processor. The same takes 700ms on the ARM5E intel Xscale. The code that I wrote puts 10 speex frames in one RTP packet. When exexcuted on ARM I get lots of underrruns hence

Asterisk / SMP / Scalability
I've got Asterisk loading 100,000+ extensions in extensions.conf. This process is taking a little upwards of 10 minutes to complete on each of my dual 3.2Ghz HP DL380 with SuSE Linux Enterprise 8 boxes. Although asterisk creates child processes, it appears that it is only using a single processor to parse extensions.conf. I've turned off Hyper Threading on the servers which has increased

Error cannot allocate vector of size...
Hello, I have a memory problem when I run package WinBUGS with R (2.6.1). Until now I have been using a Pentium IV 3.2Ghz computer with 512Mb of RAM memory (with Windows XP Pro SP2), and I hadn't had any problem. Now I have a new computer with the following characteristics: Intel Core 2 duo 2.33Ghz and 3Gb of RAM memory (with Windows XP Pro SP2) and when I am running the same R syntax I

Using NAS as PDC Shares?
Dear List, We have just bought: * Dual AMD CPU, 8TB NAS, 4GB RAM (DNUK.COM) - SUSE 9.3 * Two Dell 2850, 3GB RAM, Dual Xeon 3.2GHz, 300GB Raid 5 - Fedora Core 4 Now obviously we want to use the Storage ;-) How would you guys recommend we proceed? Samba PDC on one 2850, LDAP Directory on second, and somehow mount the storage for the shares? Or run the PDC on the NAS, and keep the LDAP

Can this box handle 8 T1s (PSTN) with Asterisk?
Hi all, I am handed a project to setup *. The requirement is that it can handle 8 T1s. Half of the calls coming into the system will be routed to SIP extensions (with transcoding). The machine we have in our disposal is a new dual Xeon 3.2gHz server with 2g of ram and an dual 1000mb nic. Voice will be coming in from the PSTN (through 2 quad digium cards) in g711ulaw, and most of the time will

inexpensive / reasonably priced workstation / server development box
We are testing some simple low bandwidth video and audio broadcasting using real server and client softwares. So, for quick check and simplicity, we were plunking along TESTING on an 3.2GHz XP box and I noticed frames were getting dropped on the broadcast just for resizing a window on the screen during the session. Talk about totally lame... I know this can be a big deal and start conflicting

speex optimisation for ARM 5TE architecture
Hi JM, Thanks for the earlier replies. I have tested it with quality 1,2&3 the result is not much different. Also I must tell you that I am using the armbe-linux-gcc compiler which does not suppoort arm5e-asm optimisations. I get lots of assember related errors. Is there any alternative? Will moving on to a board supported by arm-linux-gcc compiler ,to enable arm5e optimisation, help?

Non-native codecs - MELPe?
Has anyone needed a coded that Asterisk does not natively support, such as MELPe or CVSD? If so, did you find a pure software solution and provided that as an addition to Asterisk? Was that solution successful? Has using an I/F card with a DSP proved to be the better solutions? We are beginners with Asterisk so any help/advice on how to best implement non-native Codecs into Asterisk will be

samba 3 performance
Yes, I get more than 30MB/s performance. The benchmark I use (NetBench) is essentially CPU bound, such that a faster processor = faster performance. With a very fast hardware config (dual 3.2GHz processors), I've been able to hit around 100MB/s. Changing the RAM or other attributes does not buy me much, it seems that processor power is the bottleneck (at least in my case). When doing your

zfs + iscsi target + vmware esx server
I''m posting here as this seems to be a zfs issue. We also have an open ticket with Sun support and I''ve heard another large sun customer also is reporting this as an issue. Basic Problem: Create a zfs file system and set shareiscsi to on. On a vmware esx server discover that iscsi target. It shows up as 249 luns. When attempting to then add the storage esx server eventually
