Question about version 2.0.6 & 2.0.7
Hi, This is my first time mailing to this site. I am running two different versions of Samba on two different servers. 2.0.6 on server A & 2.0.7 on server B In the smb.conf file for 2.0.6 I have a parameter, allow hosts=, that contains multipul IP addresses on each entry & in the global entry. On server B, 2.0.7, I do not have this parameter defined on any entry. My question is :

2.0.7: inherit permissions = yes breaks setting read-only on files
Hi, While testing the upgrade from 2.0.6 to 2.0.7 I found some kind of misbehaviour of inherit permissions. It was already known that the SGID bit on directories is only useable with "inherit permissions = yes". Most of my shares depend heavily on this (unix) feature. Today I found out I cannot change a file attribute to read-only from NT while "inherit permissions" is set

Samba 2.0.7 Install
I am trying to install Samba 2.0.7 on my RedHat 6.2 system. I recently had Samba 2.0.6 on it, but after reading about the upgrade issues, uninstalled it. So unless there is something the RPM missed, it should be uninstalled. I am building Samba 2.0.7 myself with a GCC compiler (2.95.2), which has no problems. However, after I do make install, the system still will not find smbd or nmbd. Are there

SAMBA 2.0.7 on Solaris 9 - How to disable port 445
I have SAMBA 2.0.7 running on about 20 Solaris 9 servers around the US. One location is experiencing interruptions for Windows XP clients who map to the SAMBA server. There are no known changes to Solaris or SAMBA to explain the change. The problem is very random. I have seen postings that discuss how XP uses ports 139 and 445. Is there a way to block port 445 in SAMBA 2.0.7? The

Samba 2.0.7 Network Neighborhood problem
Does anyone know how I can fix the following problem? Server running Solaris 5.7 with samba 2.0.7, as a client, installed does not show up in the Network Neighborhood's workgroup. Server's IP address was changed, samba 2.0.7 was added and now it does not work. You can get to the server by typing it in by hand \\<server-name> or <server-ip> but it does not appear in the

Samba 3.0.14a vs. 2.0.7, is "include =" recursive?
Hi, I upgraded a mid-sized samba install (+-150 pc's) from Samba 2.0.7 to 3.0.14a last night. It is acting as a PDC and the upgrade went smooth except for one thing. Under 2.0.7, it seems like the "include =" is recursive.. ie: in included files, you can include files. This behavior seems to have changed in 3.0.14a. Can someone confirm this? My setup: smb.conf include =

permission issues afer upgrade from 2.0.7 to 2.2.2
Samba Gurus, I've recently built a new Solaris samba server to replace an older one, the older one is running 2.0.7 & the new one is running 2.2.2. I pretty much just copied over the the smb.conf file & made some small adjustments via swat - the options are a bit different. The old server was just the way we needed it.....but now that the new server has gone live it appears we

Win2k & 2.0.7
When I try to join the Win2k machine to a domain, I get the following message: The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "WIN2K": The procedure number is out of range. This is a Win2k PC attempting to join to AIX 4.3.2 running samba 2.0.7. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill -- /------------------------------------------------------\
