any prediction on its release? -- Edward Schernau http://www.schernau.com Network Architect mailto:ed@schernau.com Rational Computing Providence, RI, USA

This will consist of a tarball (no rpms) to allow people to *test* the codebase on different systems etc. I'm on a road trip to Europe (LinuxWorld Paris, Open Source in Physics, Usenix in Malmo - I'm meeting up with Andrew for this one :-) doing talks for the next 10 days, I'll monitor the lists to check how people are finding it. Once I get back, depending on what bugs people have found, we'll either do an official 2.0.7, or a second pre-2.0.7. Sound ok ? people have been quiet about this, does it run ok even though its still pre-release? -- Edward Schernau http://www.schernau.com Network Architect mailto:ed@schernau.com Rational Computing Providence, RI, USA

Sounds like typical DNS issues. Is the new server a DNS server as well, or is the old server still running? HTH -----Original Message----- From: Phillip Dew (EPA) <Phillip.Dew@ericsson.com.au> To: 'samba@samba.org' <samba@samba.org> Date: Sunday, December 31, 2000 1:09 PM Subject: 2.0.7 Hi Samba, I have been using Samba 2.0.6 for about 6 months (Mandrake 7.1 dist.) as a PDC on a home network. All Windows clients (95, 98 and one NT), about 6 PC's all told. It has been very stable and has done a great job. I am now setting up a new server using 2.0.7 (Mandrake 7.2 dist) and have used the same smb.conf file for the new server. This will replace the existing server. I seem to have a problem that I can't sort out. After restarting Samba, the first client can log-in, and sometimes a second client but then no more. The log.smb indicates an IPC error (I don't know what it is referring to?). I checked the notes on changes for 2.0.7 and can't find anything that may be causing my problem. I have attached the smb.conf and log.smb files. The only change I made to the conf file was to increase the logging. I don't know if this is a bug with 2.0.7, but it is causing me some problems here.
