[Samba] Error 'getpwuid(3000007) failed' is again. (Rowland penny)
By the way I provisioned and started Samba4 as standalone server, then I deleted private folder content, then reprovisioned to DC and started as DC. That is there are 2 independent attempts.>*> - as DC and in the way I launched samba daemon, which started in its own*>*> smbd and winbindd daemons => there wasn' t theerror and shares are *>*> available. *> As you seem to have found out.2016-03-14 23:04 GMT+03:00 CpServiceSPb . <cpservicespb at gmail.com>:> What do you want to say that Samba4 can not operate as standalone server, > only intend for DC ? > > Or there is other way to use Samba4 simply as filserver. > > Btw, I was able to use Samba4 as standalone server of 434 version. > > > > > 2016-03-14 22:40 GMT+03:00 CpServiceSPb . <cpservicespb at gmail.com>: > >> Sorry. >> But my gmail account ... >> >> >> >> 2016-03-14 22:34 GMT+03:00 CpServiceSPb . <cpservicespb at gmail.com>: >> >>> I provisioned by 2 way: >>> - as standalone server and in the way I launched nmbd, smbd and winbind >>> => error "getpwuid(3000007) failed" is got and shares are inaccessible; >>> - as DC and in the way I launched samba daemon, which started in its own >>> smbd and winbindd daemons => there wasn' t theerror and shares are >>> available. >>> >>> >>> > Have you provisioned Samba as an AD DC ? >>> > If you have, have you started the 'samba' daemon, or have you started >>> > the 'nmbd', 'smbd' and 'winbind' daemons ? >>> >>> Rowland >>> >>> >>> 2016-03-13 20:02 GMT+03:00 CpServiceSPb . <cpservicespb at gmail.com>: >>> >>>> Hi all. >>>> >>> Recently I built from tarball sources 436 version of Samba4 at Ubuntu >>>> 14.04 x64. >>>> There wasn' t any Samba at the server before. >>>> All started successfully, but in 'standalone server' mode, while >>>> accessing to shares, error 'getpwuid(3000007) failed' is appeared as was >>>> here https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2014-May/181010.html. >>>> And it is impossible to open it even shares list. >>>> All necessary daemons as nmbd, smbd, winbindd are started. >>>> >>>> There is no the error and shares is accessible while this Samba4 acts >>>> as DC. >>>> Also this error was not appeared and shares was accessible in >>>> 'standalone server' mode of 434 version Samba4 at Ubuntu 14.04 x3. >>>> >>>> Can somebody tell what switch can be added / removed to / from smb.conf >>>> or where is reason at ? >>>> >>> >>> >>> >>> >> >

The default for that parameter is: server services = s3fs, rpc, nbt, wrepl, ldap, cldap, kdc, drepl, winbindd, ntp_signd, kcc, dnsupdate, dns You don't have to include the line in smb.conf unless you have a strong reason to do it. It just works. If you want to use bind instead of the internal DNS server, just include *the whole line* but with "-dns" (minus sign before "dns". I have samba 4.3.6 working as a member server in two machines and it works beautifully.

It just works. You don't need the line if you are using the defaults (including the internal dns server), but you get it if you provision with bind.> > If you want to use bind instead of the internal DNS server, just > include *the whole line* but with "-dns" (minus sign before "dns".Not have 'dns' with the entire line is the same as having the entire line with '-dns'> > > I have samba 4.3.6 working as a member server in two machines and it > works beautifully. >Yes, but did you provision it as a member server ??
