Hi Bjorn, I don't know if there are any compile switches they provide more debugging / log options. I guess its easy to modify the start up script so that logging is at a max. Was just an after thought really. I just think binaries for distro's are really important and many thanks. Stuart. PS I never got a reply but with 4.1.6 but with vfs objects = btrfs declared in smb.conf disk permissions go to pot. http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_home_share If you try the above with vfs objects = btrfs on a btrfs disk then it doesn't If you try the above without vfs objects = btrfs on a btrfs disk then it does work. Anybody tried that yet? -----Original message-----> From:Bjoern Baumbach <bb at sernet.de> > Sent: Thursday 17th April 2014 11:36 > To: Stuart Naylor <stuartiannaylor at thursbygarden.org>; samba at samba.org > Subject: Re: [Samba] Samba 4.0.17 Available for Download > > Hi Stuart, > > On 04/16/2014 09:24 PM, Stuart Naylor wrote: > > Many thanks Sernet Guys > > You're welcome :-) > > > as I will wait for 4.0.17 and I presume 4.1.17 will be soon? > > I'll release the sernet-samba 4.0.17 and 4.1.17 packages soon. > > > With the Sernet binaries are you going to release a repo that has all the logging turned upto the max? > > I do not get the point. Typically you set (for exmaple) "log level = 10" in your smb.conf. Please refer to the smb.conf man page or for example https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Client_specific_Log for more debug options. Alternatively you can startup samba services with "-dX", where X is a log level (typically between 0 and 10, where 0 means "only critical error" and 10 something like "debug info"). It's also possible to set the loglevel via the smbcontrol command. For example "smbcontrol smbd debug 7" sets the loglevel of 7 to all running smbd processes.
