4.1.7 Server Side Copies & Disk Permissions
As soon as I add the declaration for server side copies I hit problems with disk permissions. Same as in 4.1.6 and always the same so I will not bother to add a log. If you follow http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_home_share But have vfs objects = btrfs declared all is different. You can add users and groups but the default Everyone, CREATOR GROUP and a Unknown you just can't

samba4wins nbd_server implementation & configuration
Hi, Confused and bewildered as usual, so ask the guys who know. samba4wins is now implemented and part of the samba4 package? Is there a configuration guide? I guess nbd_server needs to be part of the equation so could you point to some resources on setup as I don't think I have noticed anything in the wiki? Probably just me :) Many Thanks Stuart

Samba 4.0.17 Available for Download
Great news. Just wondered if you guys had a good reference point for compiling for the noob? I will have to google again to tag the version in git as my memory is generally vague. The only things I generally get confused on is how to change the output folders so they are distro specific. I have just been disabling apparmor and selinux but if anybody has some sample profiles it would be great.

phpldapadmin URI
Apols but would someone please forward some info on this. I want to connect to samba4 and all I can seem to find are results of the now non existent configuration script. I think you might start to find an increase on uptake and the removal might of been premature? Make me happy anyway as confused at the moment. Stuart

Samba-tool OU create
Hi, Sort of half asked this before and didn't really get a reply. The ability to create, delete and list OU's would seem to be a fundamental but for some reason is missing. Could anyone supply any details if its planned or are there alternative methods to create without the use of RSAT? Stuart

Failed join operations
I'm running a PDC on Samba 3.60. Just freshly upgraded it from Samba 3.028a with the purpose of supporting Windows 7. However though all the existing users and computers are running fine, I'm stumped trying to join a new Windows 7 machine to it. I have applied the DomainCompatibility registry fix. When I try to join a Windows 7 workstation I will get this message : The join operation

Can't get NUT slave to connect to master
Hi thanks Roger. Well I'm just using Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS I only ran that command as a few guides say that's how to establish if a daemon is compiled with tcp wrappers: https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/tcp-wrappers-hosts-allow-deny-tutorial/ I haven't really used TCP wrappers before so I'm not even sure if my hosts.allow entries are correct: upsd : ipaddressofclientgoeshere ups

Can't get NUT slave to connect to master
Hi thanks for the reply. I installed Nut via apt-get, not from source (which I'd rather stick with if possible just for ease of security updates etc) - so I'm not too sure if TCP wrappers are there or available... This could be the problem, am I still able to add the wrappers in with prebuilt packages? Thanks very much once again. :) On 24 November 2016 at 21:51, Roger Price <roger

Sorry, but without access to this system I can't really say what is going on. Please talk to Oracle for support. Samba is running fine on a huge variety of file systems, and if ACFS gives you locking issues, I would request Oracle to fix their

Can't get NUT slave to connect to master
Try ALL:ALL in /etc/hosts.allow temporarily. If that still doesn't work, it's likely something else. If it does, only then screw with creating narrow rules . . . - Tim On November 25, 2016 6:37:02 AM CST, Roger Price <roger at rogerprice.org> wrote: >On Fri, 25 Nov 2016, Jonah Naylor wrote: > >> upsd : ipaddressofclientgoeshere > >If it were me I would write >

Can't get NUT slave to connect to master
Hi thanks Roger, I've amended my hosts.allow file to your suggested one - thanks for that. I'm still getting "Connection refused on the client cgi screen as well as in the shell it gives me UPS upsname at ipaddresshere is unavailable... Any ideas what I can try next to debug why it's not working. Also should the "allowfrom = clientIPaddresshere" line be in my monuser

Can't get NUT slave to connect to master
Hi thanks for helping. I don't think nut is built with TCP wrappers support, although the package is listed as depending on libwrap... I ran this command: ldd /sbin/upsd | grep libwrap.so and it has returned no output. Does this mean I have to compile from source or is there a way to add the tcp wrapper support? Thanks again. Hello Volker, Thank you for the reply. I've seen your name mentioned several times against this topic :-) >What effect do you have in mind exactly? This is the thing... it looks like the Debian packages (stable + back port) are built without the --with-aio-support (at least
