forgive me if this is a dumb question. i created the netlogon folder in /home/samba/ but i'm not sure what permissions to assign to it or who to make owner and group. could anyone tell me??

you just want it readable by users, the only thing you'll probably put in it is NTConfig.POL and logon scripts.
