samba - Nov 2007 - De-duplication vfs plug-in?

I've been looking at differnet options for implementing this, and was 
wondering...

How hard would this be to do as a vfs plug-in in Samba?

Or, is anyone aware of any stable FLOSS options on a Linux platform?
