samba - May 2007 - Can vista client can negotiage smb2 protocol with the samba server?

Hi,

I have a specific question about the SMB 2 (or CIFS 2 version protocol).

SMB2 was introduced with Microsoft Vista and is a redesign of the older SMB
protocol. (http://wiki.ethereal.com/SMB2)

Is current samba 3.0.xx release (or samba 4 release) support this protocol
when vista client tries to establish session with the samba server.

What are the features or advantages of getting this version of the protocol
negotiated with the client when compared to previous version of this
protocol.

Samba4 can, but this is disabled by default.  Set 'server max protocol
smb2'.

Is there any plans to backport smb 2.0 to the 3.0. releases of samba in
future?

What will be the repercussion of using Vista client which has smb
2.0protocol support aganist non Smb
2.0 server? Currently it Negotiates with the earlier version of the
protocol.
