[Samba] Documentation about level2-oplocks probably misleading?!?!
hi, just noticed that the online manpage of smb.conf says: level2 oplocks (S) Currently, if kernel oplocks are supported then level2 oplocks are not granted (even if this parameter is set to yes). Note also, the oplocks parameter must be set to yes on this share in order for this parameter to have any effect. testparm -sv |grep level2 says: level2 oplocks = Yes less /etc/samba/smb.conf|grep -i level2 gives no output (= not set). can i conclude now, that the documentation is not up2date and level2 oplocks work with kernel oplocks, because we did not set "level2 oplocks" in the smb.conf file but testparm reports it as being set? or does testparm just display the default settings without logic checking (e.g. if "kernel oplocks" == yes, then "level2 oplocks" = no)? thx! hope my question is clear :) micha -- Michael Gasch Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology Department of Human Evolution (IT Staff) Deutscher Platz 6 D-04103 Leipzig Germany Phone: 49 (0)341 - 3550 137 49 (0)341 - 3550 374 Fax: 49 (0)341 - 3550 399
