samba - Nov 2006 - Excel 2003 open/save problem

Since we installed the Bitdefender antivirus software on some of our
WindowsXP clients we often see the message "already open" / "may
have
changed" in Excel 2003.

The test results are interesting:

Active antivirus on-access file scan:

against Samba 3.0.23d - Log level 1 - reproducible errors
against Samba 3.0.23d - Log level 10 - no errors, so cannot provide any
log ;-)
against W2K3 server - no errors


Without file scan:

all are fine


The regkey from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324491 (which makes
Excel to flush the file cache before comparing timestamps) seems to fix
it even with Samba/Log level 1/Bitdefender.

So maybe some kind of timing issue?!?

Sniffs with wireshark comparing Samba and w2k3 will be as
helpful as a level 10 log.

They are likely to be too big for the list, so you might
want to open a bug at https://bugzilla.samba.org.
