Could you please advise whether or not "findsmb" should work on a
WindowsXP

Since Samba runs under Linux and other UNIX like OSes, you will need to
run "findsmb" on the Linux machine you have Samba installed on - in
this case, you can presumably SSH into the NSLU2 and run findsmb
there.  It has nothing to do with XP, other than XP machines showing up
in findsmb's output.

Since this isn't really a Samba issue, you might find more help
