[Samba] WIN2K with SP4 unab;e to save profiles on a Samba PDC
Hi all, I have been noticing for a certain time that the Win 2K with Service Pack 4 wasnt able to save its profile to a Samba PDC. Is this a known fact or I have a problem ? I am using 3.0.11 on Fedora Core 3. regards -- You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building nests in your hair.

Is this a known > fact or I have a problem ?This is most probably due to additional permissions checks Microsoft introduced in some patch leading to SP4, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327462/ . One way to cure this is to set a registry key on the clients, see http://www.samba-tng.org/docs/tng/windows-registry-patches/WinXP_RoamingProfiles.reg (This also works on W2k.) [Samba] Re: WIN2K with SP4 unab;e to save profiles on a Samba PDC
Thanx so much for the pointers.. Just for the sake of completing the issue, I did what was told and the problem vanished. but to my surprise, even Win2K with SP2 was had problems with profiles. I did as I did in Win2k SP4 and the problem was solved. But to be doubly sure, just wanted to put this question in general, that is this problem well documented in samba docs, (I did not find it) as many PDC admins will be facing this problem. One more thing noticed was that only the Administrator user was unable to save the profiles, all other users were being able to save and read there profiles well. After changing the regs as suggested everything was working as usual... regards On Apr 5, 2005 4:05 PM, GLOWFRIEND <glowfriend@gmail.com> wrote:> Hi all, > I have been noticing for a certain time that the Win 2K with Service > Pack 4 wasnt able to save its profile to a Samba PDC.
