Hi Jerry, it works but I would like to ask you how can I translate the same situation for my ms dos client, maybe I have to insert workgroup = sambamachine instead of domain name? Practically they aren't domain users but localy users isn't it?Or I'm wrong? Thanks, Marco.> -----Messaggio originale----- > Da: Gerald (Jerry) Carter [SMTP:jerry@samba.org] > Inviato: marted? 1 marzo 2005 15.22 > A: Meli Marco > Cc: 'samba@lists.samba.org' > Oggetto: Re: [Samba] local users in domain member security. > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > Meli Marco wrote: > | Hi, > | I have samba 3.0.7 installed and it works fine in security=domain with > | domain user accounts, ACL and so on but now we would like to add some > users > | in local database account (/etc/passwd & /etc/smbpasswd file I though, > so > | they are few users). > | I try to use "smbclient /server/data -Ulocal_linux_user_name%password" > | to test it's everithing ok, but I always receive the same error: > | session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE, I presume > > > add -W <netbios name of server> > > > > > cheers, jerry > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- > Version: GnuPG v1.2.5 (GNU/Linux) > Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org > > iD8DBQFCJHqFIR7qMdg1EfYRAo3BAJ9L+UqwP2txsJ2nLE799eUcg5yW2QCgyUa7 > rEJlMDtfM5OPs0SCFnODP+k> =QIrj > -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

R: [Samba] local users in domain member security.

That would work, but probably mess up browsing. You could try setting auth methods = guest sam_ignoredomain winbind:ntdomain in smb.conf to make smbpasswd ignore the domain specified for the user and only look at the username. cheers, jerry -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFCLIkhIR7qMdg1EfYRAheXAJwP/RlV5rx5pvAFp/UATm7BPkhMkwCcD4xY ERBdU0DUh2q9LUyabIPyuvw=CnSL -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
