My assumption is that that Samba needs to be restarted before it can recognize changes made to a username map file. Is there anyway to have it dynamically recognize changes? Christian

Already running daemons need a SIGHUP to reload>From "man smbd"The configuration file, and any files that it includes, are automatically reloaded every minute, if they change. You can force a reload by sending a SIGHUP to the server. Reloading the configuration file will not affect connections to any service that is already established. Either the user will have to disconnect from the service, or smbd killed and res- tarted. This is true for 2.2.x and 3.0.x -- Eric M.
