[Samba] Compatibility with NetApp DataONTAP filers?

I have just been wondering if anyone would know if Samba is compatible with the
CIFS implementation of the Network Appliance DataONTAP filers?

I have so far unable to connect to any shared folder on the NetApp filer that
require authentication. An attempt to access or list shared resources on the
NetApp filer fails with the following error message.

session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE

I am running Fedora Core 2
* kernel 2.6.7-1.494.2.2
* samba client 3.0.3-5

NetApp F85 filer running NetApp Release 6.3.2

Did anyone have better luck getting Samba to work with NetApp filers?

Any pointers would be really appreciated

Yes, can you send a debug level 10 trace please ? We're
here in the CIFS interop lab along with NetApp, so now
is a good time to do this.

I really appreciate your response. Please find the debug trace below.

Just a few notes: I upgraded the filer's operating system from release 6.3.2
to 6.4.4R1 prior to running the test. It did not make much of a difference but I
did get a different error message this time around. I am going to upgrade to the
NetApp's latest and greatest stable release (6.5.1R1) and post you on the
results

Yes, can you send a debug level 10 trace please ? We're
here in the CIFS interop lab along with NetApp, so now
is a good time to do this.

[Samba] Compatibility with NetApp DataONTAP filers?

Jeremy,

Would it be a big deal for you to find out the exact release version of the
NetApp software you could successfully run smbclient against?

I did test here in the lab yesterday with the version
NetApp had brought - I'm assuming it was the latest
stable version - and had no problems connecting with
smbclient. It looks like it might be a bug in their
older implementations.
