Compatibility with NetApp DataONTAP filers?
Good ${time of the day} I have just been wondering if anyone would know if Samba is compatible with the CIFS implementation of the Network Appliance DataONTAP filers? http://www.netapp.com/products/filer/ontap.html I have so far unable to connect to any shared folder on the NetApp filer that require authentication. An attempt to access or list shared resources on the NetApp filer fails with the following error message. session setup failed: NT_STATUS_...

cifs migration from samba3+ldap to samba 4 AD
...perfect, and nowwe are evaluating to migratw to samba 4 AD. I have read samba wiki and seems clear but we are not sure how tomigrate cifs resources, we use cifs resources in some windows server and alsp some cifs wirh linux server and setfscl permissions, and the most important, a netappcifs with dataontap 8.1.4 7 mode that was attached as nt mode. My question is what are the correct steps to migrate data and cifs resources to new samba domain? Thanks

NetApp unable to join samba PDC
Hello there I've just been trying to get a NetApp FAS2020, DataOnTap 7.2.5.1 to join our domain. No luck so far . The PDC is samba 3.2.4 with ldap backend. I created the account manually and when I try to join the NetApp I get these in the samba logs. Samba 4.6.7 AD, Netapp CDOT 9.2 and missing "Domain Users" membership
Hi, we are testing a new AD domain that will replace our old NT4 one, and we are setting up a new cifs vserver of our Netapp filer (running Clustered Dataontap 9.2). The new AD domain was a clean deployment created using "samba-tool domain provision --server-role=dc --use-rfc2307 ...". All seems to work well and the Netapp filer joins the domain without errors and seems to run fine. The only issue is that from Netapp point of view every user i...

Windows File Permissions
...if anyone has gone over this information. I have been unable to find much help in the mailing list archives, IRC, or the documentation. To the point. Question #1: Does anyone know if a Samba PDC can provide Shared ACLs to NAS devices that join a domain as a member (such as a NetApp Filer with DataOnTap 7)? If I have a domain member with a CIFS share can I control access to it's shares centrally against Samba user authentication? Question #2: If I mount a windows share with the samba client mount -t smbfs, is there a way to see the Windows filesystem rights, and better yet can these rights...

Samba compatibility with NetAPP filers.
We are running scripts using smbclient to get some data of NetAPP filer and we run into the output below. After doing some digging, I found that there is a incompatibility between NetAPP Data ONTAP OS and samba. Is this still the case or there is a fix for it. We are running 3.0.10 Any ideas would be great George Client started (version 3.0.10). Connecting to 169.177.18.109 at port 445

Windows File Permissions
...NSS data and Linux/Unix data as the filesystem permissions are maintained (though some hackery is required for NetWare). However, recently a large amount of Windows data has been added to the project raising concerns about filesystem rights. The windows data is archived on NetApp filers running DataOnTap 7 with NTFS security mode. The filers are presented to clients as NAS, and I can mount these volumes with the samba client mount -t smbfs (what about CIFS?). So to the real question! Is there a way to view and preserve the windows filesystem rights with RSYNC? I am pretty sure I am not able to...

cannot mount share from netapp device
I have been trying to access a personal share being hosted by my schools netapp server and have been unable to do so using both version 3.04 and version 3.06 of samba. I have read the mailing list archives and found one set of posts related to the problem however there was no solution posted, so I am asking if anyone knows how to solve this problem. The previos posts that I am talking about are
