Hi list, I have a problem with samba 3, with samba 2.2.x I have configured my samba server with a virtual host adding the following configuration: netbios aliases = alias include = /etc/samba/smb.conf.%L and then I have created a configuration file smb.conf.alias, and I have configured it as a separate server, in this way on the same machine I have two server: the first configured by the file smb.conf, was an anonymous file server (security=share) and the second, configured by the file smb.conf.alias, a private server (security=user) Now in samba 3.04 this configuration doesn't work I'm not more able to access to the anonymous file server, someone is successfull using my configuration with samba 3? thanks in advance Nik

To use netbios aliases with Samba 3 and Win2k or later clients, you need to set 'smb ports = 139' in smb.conf. Otherwise the clients connect o port 445 (and don't use netbios sessions). Also see the %i smb.conf (added in 3.0.3 IIRC) variable for multi-homed Samba servers. cheers, jerry - --------------------------------------------------------------------- Alleviating the pain of Windows(tm) ------- http://www.samba.org GnuPG Key ----- http://www.plainjoe.org/gpg_public.asc "If we're adding to the noise, turn off this song"--Switchfoot (2003) -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFA/+6wIR7qMdg1EfYRAnBmAKDXg43f03JECG20k9nWxuC+dBj8UQCgspEG yHXPWLtgd3lQhtJ0wA1sMy8=1blc -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
