[Samba] open_directory: unable to stat name = .. Error was Success
Hi! I have a strange problem: server: redhat 9; kernel 2.4.26; samba 3.0.4 PDC client: winxp sp1 recently updated with patches browsing directories mainly with Total commander 6.0 and testing with window$ explorer Steps: - log on to the domain as user roti () - the logon.bat connects the necessary network drives - working with the connected drives using total commander, with no problem - after a few ours, this error occurs: When I try to access a mapped drive's root with commander, it will be blank. No directories. When I type to the commander's prompt: "cd directory" which directory is there, I get in. But when I try to go back to the root directory, it is empty. There are two methods of returning to the mapped drive's root directory: 1. Clicking on the commander's ".." or "\" icon. It will return to the root directory, but it will be blank. 2. When I use the keyboard, and hit the ".." at the top of the directories, it won't let me to change directory, and with loglevel 5, samba will log this: [2004/05/19 12:54:31, 3] smbd/process.c:switch_message(685) switch message SMBntcreateX (pid 1455) [2004/05/19 12:54:31, 4] smbd/uid.c:change_to_user(186) change_to_user: Skipping user change - already user [2004/05/19 12:54:31, 5] smbd/filename.c:unix_convert(114) unix_convert called on file "" [2004/05/19 12:54:31, 5] smbd/files.c:file_new(122) allocated file structure 2309, fnum = 6405 (8 used) [2004/05/19 12:54:31, 3] smbd/open.c:open_directory(1356) open_directory: unable to stat name = .. Error was Success [2004/05/19 12:54:31, 5] smbd/files.c:file_free(385) freed files structure 6405 (7 used) [2004/05/19 12:54:31, 3] smbd/error.c:error_packet(118) error packet at smbd/trans2.c(2222) cmd=162 (SMBntcreateX) NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED [2004/05/19 12:54:31, 5] lib/util.c:show_msg(456) [2004/05/19 12:54:31, 5] lib/util.c:show_msg(466) The strange is, that with window$ explorer, I can browse the drives with no such problem. And the *strangest* problem is that when I quit from total comamnder, and rerun it, it will work fine! Is it a samba problem? Roti
