samba - May 2004 - 2.2.8a and 3.0.3a issues and differences

I just recently subscribed to the list.  
Have there been this may issues in 2.2.8a?  
It seems that the new version has a lot of problems.
What improvements are in the new version?
Any one working a version for MDK?
