[Samba] Problem while installing the SAMBA...
Hi ALL...
I am new to SAMBA, when i am trying to compile SAMBA by using make, It
is just waiting and doing nothing.
make
Using FLAGS = -O -I./popt -Iinclude -I/opt2/samba/samba-3.0.2a/source/include
-I/opt2/samba/samba-3.0.2a/source/ubiqx
-I/opt2/samba/samba-3.0.2a/source/smbwrapper -I. -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE
-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64
-I/opt2/samba/samba-3.0.2a/source
LIBS = -lsendfile -lsec -lgen -lresolv -lsocket -lnsl -ldl
LDSHFLAGS = -G
LDFLAGS =
Generating smbd/build_options.c
Building include/proto.h
creating /opt2/samba/samba-3.0.2a/source/include/proto.h
It is trying to create a file proto.h and waiting there. Please some one help
me to solve this
Most of the files are owned by UID 783 ( Instead of some user )
Please let me know what i am doing wrong here.

Maybe it's wise to do a 'chown -R root.root [dir]' on the source
tree
of your samba version that you are trying to compile. Where I assume
that you are trying to compile as user 'root' of another users with
sufficient rights to compile.

Hi Erik... Thanks for the response. I have changed the permissions for all the files to root... Still it is waiting for some thing. It stoped at while building inclue/proto.h Generating smbd/build_options.c Building include/proto.h creating /opt2/samba/samba-3.0.2a/source/include/proto.h Please let me know If any one having any idea. Are all the necessary solaris packages (for compiling) installed? I forgot something, there is also a precompiled binaries of samba 3.0.2a on http://www.sunfreeware.com. I tried to compile this on Solaris 8 and 9 at one point, and what I had to do was to actually rename the /usr/ucb/cc and /usr/ucb/make and I believe I had to move /usr/ucb/ld as well. I then installed the GNU make util and I was able to compile fine. For some reason, taking /usr/ucb didn't help me. But this did.
